Special Techniques are much the same in that they require a certain number of battles with Abilities equipped, but they also require a certain number of battles with a particular weapon equipped too. For example, to learn the 1H𝓀 Sword technique "Triple Tiger" you must fight eight battles with a 1H Sword equipped, a🔜nd three with Somersault equipped.

8 🅷 Talk To Yo🌄ur Cactus
You'll notice a cactus in your bedroom at the beginning of the game. This is actually a somewhat important feature that writes a diary of all the quests that you've completed. In order to report a quest, you must return home and talk to the cactus.
You must talk to the cactus before completing a new quest or you will miss out on the first quest's diary entry.
This is very important for achievement hunters, as some entries are missable even in New Game+, namely those quests that unlock ✨different features around your home such as the Monster Corral and the Orchard.
7 KO Is Not The End 🅺
Don't be too afraid of being knocked out during a particularly hard battle. Not only does the game have a new and handy Autosave system, but if you have allies with you (which includes your trusty pet) you will not receive a Game Over immediately.
Instead, a grey bar will start filling up over your health bar. Once it fills up, you will be revived with full health ready to fight again. Your allies and pets will get this treatment too. Only when every single party member has hit zero percent health will the battle end in failure.
6 ꦜ Be Careful When Going Home
This can be a nasty surprise for the unprepared. When on a quest that requires you to escort an NPC somewhere, do not under any circumstances try to enter your house before completing the quest. Using the facilities outside is fine, but entering the front door will dismiss that NPC.
This isn't always the end of the world, but with some quests dismissing the NPC will immediately fail the quest, making it impos✨sible to complete it until New Game+ rolls around.
Tip: If you accidentally do this, be sure to reload an Autosave immediately to make sure you don't lock yourself out of completion.
5 Don't Be Selfish With EXP
Legend of Mana's leveling system can be a bit mean at times. Defeated enemies can release EXP crystals which must be picked up quickly before they disappear, and they do not get shared amongst the current party. This means tꦍhat leveling up NPCs or pets is a chore that will leave you behind a✅ little.
Luckily, an early quest will reward you with a Forbidden Ring. This accessory will make any EXP crystal you pick up be shared with all party members equally, meaning you can avoid worrying about them stealing your precious ⛎progression.
- To start this quest, you first need to talk to Daena on Luon Highway during Niccolo's Business Unusual and then start the quest by talking to her again at the Inn in Domina.
4 The Forge

It is a complex game of hidden values and material collecting that can take an age to learn about. Luckily, the game is largely easy enough not to require the most overpowered items, and it's quite easy to mostly ignore the feature entirely.

The placement of artifacts is one of the game's most unique features. As you progress through the game you will find and place artifacts that turn into the locations you visit. There are a number of thi꧒ngs that are affected by artifact pla⛦cement:
- How strong enemies will be in that area.
- The quality of the shops in that area.
- The elemental levels of the location (some events require level three in an element).
It's important to keep in mind that the further away from Home an artifact is placed, the higher the levels of enemies and shops. Also, keep in mind that the Pirate's Hook artifact can only be placed on a water tile, so place your artifacts wisely.
1 Experiment With Weapons ▨
While the start of the game prompts you to choose a weapon type for your hero, this is not a decision set in stone. In fact, you can experiment with any of the weapons available in the game and it's a good idea to do so. Weapon choice affects how your stats improve and changing them around a lot will lead to a quite balanced character.
