The Shadow Temple is home to the Shadow Medallion, kept guarded by one of the legendary sages, Impa. While Ocarina of Time may be rated E for everyone, the Shadow Temple would fit right into a traditional horror game. Here are ten facts you might not have known about one of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Zelda's most unique dungeons.

10 ♏ The Temple Was A Torture Chamber 🍷

It's apparent fro🃏m the get-go that the Shadow Temple is unlike any other location in the game, and its true purpose becomes painf𝓰ully clear as you notice the various torture devices, blood, and undead enemies that make up this wretched place.

Text can be found in the dungeon that reads "Shadow Temple... Here is gathered Hyrule's bloody history of greed and hatred...," which makes it obvious tha💮t there is a much darker side to Hyrule than meets the eye, and many likely met their demise in this forsaken 𝐆temple and are left to forever haunt those who dare enter.

9 ꦆ The Temple Has Connections To The Sheikah

Kakariko Village has historically had direct ties to the Sheikah, and with Impa being the sage who resides ov♉er the Shadow Temple, there's no denying the connections between the two.

The Sheikah work directly with the royal kingdom of Hyrule, and they've often been tasked with doing more of the dirty work, hence why their weapons and style of combat favors the usage of the shadows. The Shadow Temple ma♔y not have been initially created for the purpose of torturing enemies of Hyrule, but the Sheikah may have repurpo𒅌sed it as such.

8 Not Much Was U🎃pdated For The Master Quest

Ocarina of Time Master Quest's revamped dungeons usually offer differing layouts, new enemy placements, and a generally🤪 more difficult time. However, the Shadow Temple seems to have gotten the short end of the stick this time around as it underwent signi⛦ficantly fewer changes than the other dungeons.

It is the only adult dungeon with the exact same room order, where the puzzles in each room have been tweaked to be slightly more difficult. There are also no 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:new enemies introduced here that weren't in the original; the only major cha👍nge is a larger𓄧 quantity of enemies, like having an extra Dead Hand.

7 ಞ ♔ Bongo Bongo Inspired Future Zelda Boss Monsters

The boss fights in 3D Zelda games tend to be quite creative with their designs, and Bongo Bongo certainly fits that description. As a humongous, one-eyed evil spirit with disembodied hands and a giant underground bongo to play, it's definitely a contender for one of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:scariest bosses in Zelda.

After escaping its prison within the Bottom of the Well and tossing Sheik around like a ragdoll, it retreats to the graveyard to take refuge within the Shadow Temple. Bongo Bongo paved the way for the "hand-eye" boss trope in the Zelda series, as🐼 seen with later bosses like Gohdan an🌺d Mazaal.

6 The Sh💛adow Temple Is A Straightforward Dungeon

Not all Zelda dungeons are created equally, and the term "linearity" gets thrown around quite a bit when discussing their designs. Ocarina of Time features both linear and🎶 more non-linear dungeons, with the more complex, non-linear ones being completed as Adult Link.

The Forest Temple, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Fire Temple, Water Temple, and Spiriꦿt Temple all require at least some kind of backtracking to progress. In contrast, the Shadow Temple is largely a straight line to the boss fight as you go deeper and deeper underground, making it arguably the easiest o🍒ut of the five adult dungeons.

5 ꦐ ꧂ Dead Hand's Bloody Design Was Altered For The Game's Re-Release

Ocarina of Time's "E for everyone" rating is pretty questionable by today's ESRB standards, especially in the original versions of the game that featured realistic blood splattered by 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:killed enemies, on the 🔥floors and walls of the Well anඣd Shadow Temple, and on the infamous mini-boss, Dead Hand.

Ocarina of Time 3D took measures to slightly redesign Dead Hand's design, making the red splotches on its body a lot more subtle than what was seen in the N64 version. It'sꦍ still terrifying, for sure,𝔍 but not nearly to the extent that it was.

4 ♉ The🤪re's Some Lore To The Bottom Of The Well

Being in such close proximity to the Shadow Temple, as well as being the initial prison of Bongo Bongo, there's no question that the Bottom of the Well has strong connections to the Shadow Temple. Its immediate purpose is unknown, but the player cannot traverse the Shadow Temple without first finding the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Lens of Truth here.

The old man living on Lake Hylia mentions that a man who could see the truth lived in a house where the well noꦓw stands, which explains the seemingly odd placement of the Lens of Truth.

3 🍬🧸 Fourth Dungeon? Maybe Fifth?

The dungeon progression in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ocarina of Time seems about as straight forward as it can get to most players, as it's likely that the adult dungeo𝕴ns will be completed in the recommended order by most players.

However, 𝔍the Shadow Temple and Spirit Temple are actually interchangeable in their completion, as neither item from the respective dungeon is needed to complete the other. The desert can be traversed carefully without the Lens of Truth, and the Longshot can be used in place of the Hover Boots, making the Shadow Temple into the last major dungeon visited if desired.

2 There's Censorship In Th🃏e Temple ♉

Zelda has never been known to be a particularly gory or violent series, but it's pretty impressive to see just how much Nintendo got away with when it comes to the original versions of Ocarina of Time.

In later revisions and the 3DS remake, Ganondorf and enemies' blood was changed from red to green, the Dead Hand was altered as was mentioned previously, and the blood seen on the floor and walls of the Bottom of the Well and the Shadow Temple were removed altogether. This makes the areas far less creepy.

1 There Are Exploitable S𝓰peedrunning Tri🍬cks

Completing a game as fast as humanly possible comes with some pretty odd and unexpected tricks being used, and the Shadow Temple has some significant skips and exploits to pu🎃ll off.

You can skip the 🦂boss key by clipping into the door, jump across gaps where you would otherwise need a specific item to do so, and skip the boat sequence near the end of the dungeon. The most notable skip, however, is the Block Skip, whic🐭h skips a large portion of the entire dungeon by carefully clipping through a block.
