Nintendo getting 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Breath of the Wild to run smoothly on Switch was a modern miracle. Somehow, Nintendo has now proven miracles can be improved upon. Six years later, it has effectively told us that thing we collectively agreed was the pinnacle of video game development was just a warm-up. A dry run as it swiftly moved on to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Tears of the Kingdom. I truly believe whatever comes next, likely on the Switch's successor, will make my head explode.

The vast open world, the (somewhat) stable framerate even when Link is dropping from the sky at speed, and the thing that baffles me most, squeezing it all onto a single Switch cartridge. Tears of the Kingdom is a triumph, and it will occupy roughly ten percent of the available storage on your console as quite a few of its rival triple-A titles. Of course, it has issues, but far fewer than some 150GB games. I love 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Jedi: Survivor, but let's not pretend it wasn't 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:basically broken at launch on PC.

I have no idea how Nintendo did it, I'm not sure anyone does, but there are lessons to be pulled from Tears of the Kingdom's development without having to learn literal magic. Yes, I'm assuming Eiji Aonuma and his fellow devs are wizards. The year of polish the Br𓆏eath of the Wild sequel received is something other studios should be looking at and learning from, though. Not to mention the six-year gap between games and having no qualms delaying a laun♔ch until that game is as good as it possiblꦍy can be and is the product you want to send out into the world.

While everyone can learn from Nintendo's work with Tears of the Kingdom, a series of video games technically residing under the same umbrella is the one that should really be paying attention. I am, of course, talking about Pokemon. There's no two ways about it, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Scarlet & Violet launched broken. Countless bugs and issues when the games arrived last year, and months later with DLC on the horizon, some of those problems still haven't been fixed. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:A handful of raids were pulled recentꦦly and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Game Freak still hasn't explained why.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out the leading reason why Scarlet & Violet launched in the state they did. I remember the new Pokemon games getting their surp🃏rise reveal a little more than a year ago. Like many Pokemon fans at the time, I wondered how on earth Game Freak was doing this. Brand new mainline games so soon? Well, when they launched, all became clear. It's rushing, and if the way the games were on release day wasn't embarrassing enough, Tears of the Kingdom has really driven that embarrassment home.

Pokemon rushes things. It has a system, arguably a well-oiled one, in place, and it sticks to it. A game is given a release date and that's it. Barring a catastrophe, those dates are set in stone. Pokemon is also thinking two or three games into the future before the ones it is currently working on have even been released. The studio revealed last year that wor🍌k on Legends: Arceus, which launched 𝕴in 2022, began before Sword & Shield arrived in 2019.

A game as big as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Legends: Arceus needs more than two years of development, of course it does. Therein lies the Pokemon issue highlighted by Tears of the Kingdom. The team behind the latest Zelda game has almost definitely been thinking of nothing but the Breath of the Wild sequel for six years. An entire studio's efforts focused on one game, not moving on until that game has shipped.

Committing to new games frequently enough that you have to move on to the next one before the current ones are done is only feasible for so long, and Pokemon's cracks are starting to show. New games three years after the last ones, or ten months if you include Legends: Arceus, that were slated at launch and haven't made up ground since. The alternative is a single game that took six years to make consuming all our lives, being 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:labeled🐻 one of the best games of all time, and one that will be played (a lot) unti🐠l a new Zelda title replaces it.

I'd like to think Pokemon and Game Freak have been watching us all playing Tears of the Kingdom and thinking “damn, that could be us”. In reality, I've seen the sales numbers and assume they don't care. Tears of the Kingdom and Scarl🍌et & Violet both sold ten million copies each during their respec🦹tive launch weekends. It ultimately comes down to the money, and if Pokemon can launch imperfect games more frequently and still make bank, that's what will keep happening.

I'd even like to think Nintendo will be the one to step in, pointing to Tears of the Kingdom and saying “Hey, can you be more like that?” Again, as long as Pokemon games are selling, that won't happen. It's going to take a stream of broken games gradually pushing previously dedicated fans away to spark any real change. Even that's unlikely, though. As someone with a three-year-old who is mildly obsessed with Pokemon right now, the beauty of the franchise for those creating its games is there's always a new generation of fans to reel in. Fans who don't know and don't care that Pokemon games weren't always like this. Even 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Go gets a pass from my son. He's not boycotting the game right now 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:over the remote raid changes. I tried expl💖aining it to him, but he just threw his 𓄧Cubone plush at me.
