The Triforce is one of the most iconic images in the video gaming medium. One glanꦓce of the sacred triangle is enough to immediately evoke memories of . Which each passing game, the Triforce’s presence has only♐ grown (even when it’s absent for entire titles). It’s far and away the most important image to come out of The Legend of Zelda.
Not just that, the Triforce bri🎀ngs with it lore implications. Divided into three key components, each piece of the Triforce represents a very clear idea. One of the first pieces fans were introduced to, the Triforce of Power is perhaps the most interesting aspect of the Triforce, only ever being associated with the franchise’s main villains.
10 Wisdom’s Foil
In the original NES Legend of Zelda, there are actually only two pieces of the Trifo♍rce: Wisdom and Power. Where the Triforce of Wisdom is shattered and scattered across Hyrule, the Triforce of Power is in its complete state, controlled by none other than the beastly Ganon. The two pieces ar𝓀e meant to contrast one another ultimately.
Where the Triforce of Power is something that’s simply given to Ganon, Link has to earn the Triforce of Wisdom, gradually buildꦬing it back up into Power’s foil. Power is something one can be inherently born with, but Wisdom is something that must be earned.
9 The Top Of The Triforce
It’s debatable whether or not Triforce placement actually means much in the contᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚext of the series, but it is worth noting that the Triforce of Power𝔍 is stationed at the very top of the iconic Triforce. Above both Wisdom and Courage, it’s Power that reaches closest to the Heavens. As the Triforce is a divine symbol, there could be merit in analyzing Power’s placement.
Not only is it considered to be the strongest of the Triforce pieces (perhaps for obvious reasons,) Wisdom and Courage are stationed next to each other. They’re equals both in image and narrative since Link and Zelda often work together. Ganon, on♔ the other hand, is far 🎉above the two in status, making Power’s topmost position fitting.
8 The Triforce Of Power Can Revive The Dead
Easily one of the most🤪 useful Triforce abilities, the Triforce of Power can outright prevent death. Not only does the Triforce of Power perpetually keep Ganon alive whenever he has it (The Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess), it actually bringℱs him back to life when he doesn't even have it.
In Twilight Princess, right before Ganondorf’s execution by the Sagꦉes, a “divine prank” causes the Triforce of Power to manifest in Ganondorf after his demise. The piece Power flows through him, bringing him back to life an🅠d more or less making him immortal after the fact.
7 It Grants The Wielder “True Power”
The way the franchise refers to “True Power” is rather interesting.🧜 It🌠 would be enough to say that the Triforce of Power bestows upon the weidler Power, but The Legend of Zelda goes out 🤪of its way to distinguish b🎀etween Power and “True Power.” For The Legend of Zelda, True Power is more potent, more perverse.
What Ganondorf wields is True Power. He is physically strong𝓡, magically in-tune, and societally influential. The Triforce of Power gives Ganondorf the ability to take over Hyrule’s entire economic str♈ucture in Ocarina of Time. In that respect, the 🌞Triforce of Power becomes all the more dangero💧us.
6 Governed By The Goddess Din
All three pieces of the Triforce are associated with and governed by one of Hyrule’s three chief Goddesses. Nayru governs over the Triforce of Wisdom, Farore oversees all that happens under the Triforce of Courage, and Din lends her powers to anyone who ma🅠nages to find themselves worthy of the Triforce of Power.
As a result, Din ends up becoming a rather interesting figure in the context of the series. She’s one of the three main Goddesses, but the character she’s most associated with is none other than🌃 Ganondorf. This could show how Power▨ isn’t absolutely evil, but the series does little to counter that notion.
5 Power’s Relationship With Fire
Interestingly, the Triforce pieces also have associated 🐽elements with the Trif🍸orce of Power’s element specifically being fire. Early incarnations of Ganon use magic rather liberally (both The Legend of Zelda and A Link to the Past feature a Ganon somewh🅺at related to fire,) but he more often than not avoids flame-based techniques in favor of tra⛎ditional magic.
Rather, the reason one can pinpoint the Triforce of Power’s element as fire is due to the inclusion ofꦍ Din’s Fire in Ocarina of Time. A magic ability paying tribute to Din, it should go without saying thaജt this more or less confirms that Din’s powers are flame-based, in turn making the Triforce of Power flame-based as a result.
4 Power’s Relationship With Pigs
Ganon has always been associated with pigs, mainly due to the fact that he was on🍬ly ever 🐻depicted as a pig for four games in a row. It wouldn’t be until Ocarina of Time, the fifth entry in the series, that Ganon finally appeared as a man, Ganondorf. For a long♑ while, it was simply believed that the Triforce of Power corrupted Ganondorf with time, something Ocarina confirms.
Come Twilight Princess, however, and Link turning int▨o a wolf through the Triforce of Courage more or less confirmed that the Triforce pieces had associated animals. For the Triforce of Power, the animal was simply a pig with boar-like characteristics.
3 Ganondorf: The Triforce Of Power’s Chosen One
In the same way, Princess Zelda is the Triforce of Widsom’s Chosen One and Link is the Triforce of Courage’s Chosen One, Ganondorf is the Triforce of Power’s Chosen One. He’s the only being capable of holding the Triforce of Power in his grasp while using it properly. That said, this doesn’t mean he’s the only character to𝐆 use the Trifꦫorce.
Link technically uses the Triforce of 🌜Power whenever he has the full Triforc👍e, and Yuga ends up usurping the piece from Ganon in A Link Between Worlds. All that said, however, Ganondorf remains the only character who the Triforce of Power consistently ওreveals itself t𓆉o.
2 The Most Practical Piece Of The Triforce
All things considered, if there’s anyone piece ofᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ the Triforce worth wielding, it’s probably the Triforce of Power. The abilities it offers its users are just too practical to i🐷gnore. It can make them physically strong, give them political power, make them immortal, and bring them back from the dead should they ever die.
The fact that Link can kill Ganon whatsoever is a ꦚmiracle in and of itself. Quite literally most of the time, too. The Triforce of Power is just that overpowered. It does make𒉰 sense in some respects, though. After all, Ganondorf is the main villain. It’s only natural his piece of the Triforce offer Link the most challenge.
1 The Darkest Piece Of The Triforce
On the flip side,ꦡ while Link does use the Triforce of Power in the most technical sense, it’ll likely never be Link’s only Triforce piece. When it comes down to it, the Triforce of Pow♍er seems to look for hosts with a considerable amount of baggage or ambition, naturally latching itself onto rather dark individuals.
Its abilities, while practical, are also morbid when shined under another light. No one man should ꦗhave all that power or the ability to straight-up cheat death. Despite being part of the reincarnation cycle, the Triforce of Power keeps Ganondorf active through multiple generations, breaking down his mind until he becomes Calamity Ganon— a fate worse than death.
