|
After reaching 70 percent health, Lumacchio spins into a retreat as far back fr꧟om the player as possible. He begins to speak about an elixir and restores his health as well as increasing his attack speed and poweꦗr.
|
Ignore Lumacchio and make preparations for the next stage: restoring health, using gr🌠indstones or wishtones, and applying abrasives.
|
Phase Two
|
Monstrous Transition
|
At 50-60 percent health (after drinking the Elixir), Lumacchio will transform into a carcass monster. During this time, he will crumple over and spout dialogue. Then, smoke will appear during his transformation. From the smoke, he w😼ill leap out as a monster and perform a lunging attack. As he lands, he will then turn with a sudden claw attack and rush forward for a third and final delayed attack. As he finishes, he will roll on the ground and lay still for a moment.

Make preparations for Phase Two during the dialogue and then prepare to dodge through the monster's lunge. Then, parry his two following attacks. Attack rapidly upon completion.

|

After being attacked, monster Lumacchio spins away. Then, jumping forward with his claw outstretched, Lumacchio attacks from his left and then backswipes with the same hand. He stumbles briefly 🦂and then performs two more spinning claw attacks.
|
Prepare to parry both attacks, not chasing Lumacchio whenever he spins away. Let him come to you. Wait. Parry the final two attacks.
|
Bastard's Rage
|
After spouting exposition about his status as a pawn, Lumacchio roars and then begins a furious barrage of attacks. The attacks begin with a sword swing in the right hand, followed by two forward spinning attacks, and then a four-hit claw combination attack. This attack has a lon🍎g cooldown.
|
Begin backing away during the roar in anticipation. Stay away from the initial attacks. During the spin attacks, dodge forward and through them to the other side. Then, during the claw combination, either block (ideally Parry) or diagonally dodge forward. Attack mercilessly during his cooldown.
|
Crouching Assault
|
Putting his claws on the ground, Lumacchio crouches and then leaps forward with two small jumps. After the second jump, he turns red for a Fury Attack. The Fury Attack is a leaping claw attack. He rolls on the ground and li🍸es still after.
|
Back away during the jumps and watch him carefully. Parry the Fury Attack and then make several attacks of your own.
|
Decaying Cloud
|
Spouting exposition again, Lumacchio begins to choke and spews a cloud of Decay. From that cloud, he performs🐓 the same attack from his transition.
|
See transition attack above.
|
Leaping Fury
|
Leaping high into the air, Lumac💜chio turns red and performs a Fury Attack.
|
Parry as Lumacchio is about to land on you.
|
Lumacchio's attacks from his first and second pha🐎se are very different beasts. The things you learn in the first phase will not nಞecessarily help you for the second.
This means that you have to learn each combination set on their own terms.
-
|
-
Etiquette, the parasol weapon we can earn in the base game, is dangerous for its ability to also parry you. This highly incentivizes you to not be too aggressive and attack from the front.
To get around Etiquette, your best bet is to stick to attack Lumacchio only after his combos have concluded or when performing backstabs. Of cou💛rse, fitting for the king of backstabbing himself.

|
-
As a monster, Lumacchio's most dangerous attack in his full repertoire is his Bastard's Rage. Altogether, there are seven attacks in this full combo chain.
To survive this onslaught, you will have to back away at the start and use your dodge to get onto Lumacchio's far side. By getting behind Lumacchio before his cl♏aw combo, you can confuse his AI a little and reduce the amount of attacks that can effectively reach⛦ you.

The general strategy for most of Lumacchio's fight is: backstab, backstab, and more backstab.
Like all human enemies, Lumacchio is uniquely susceptible to critical hits from behind. However, getting this slippery fool to c🅠ooperate with your strategy is the main dif🐷ficulty.
To get Lumacchio to stay still long enough for a backstab:
-
Look for unique openings with attacks such as the Punishing Strikes and Quick Stabs.
-
Practice dodging into his attacks rather than back.
-
Never go for his back until he has just finished a combination attack.
After backstabbing Lumacchio repeatedly, you will eventually see his phase transitions:
-
The first phase transition is a minor repeat of the first. Essentially, Lumacchio heals and makes himself more aggressive.
-
The second phase transition is a complete shift from his first moveset.
During both transitions, he will be immune to damage. During this immunity time, he will be so busy talking that he won't notice you:
-
Using Pulse Cells
-
Applying abrasives
-
Sharpening weapons
The monster phase is particularly troublesome because you'll lose access to backstabbing thanks to Lumacchio's aggression and movement.
When having trouble with Lumacchio in this phase, it is important to remember these things:
-
Perfect Guards and strong attacks are your keys to unlocking a Critical Hit.
-
It is better to let monster Lumacchio come to you than chase him around the arena..
-
Monster Lumacchio has all the weaknesses of a normal carcass enemy - especially Fire.
We recommend having two abrasive types for this fi🤪ght since Lumacchio's weaknesses shift. Carrying Acid and either Perfect Guard or Fire 🍨for your abrasives or grindstones is typically best.
When you defeat Lumacchio, he will drop the Golden Snail's Mask and Golden Snail's Tailcoat.
However, Lumacchio isn't the kind of guy to give up, so your encounter isn't over yet. Now, he'll have the audacity to ask you for mercy.
Should I Spare Lumacchio?
No. This is supposed to be a choice, but no.
Lumacchio will try to convince you that he was played a fool as much as you and really a victim in all of this. However, Lumacchio is the leader of the Bastards for a reason.
Leave Lumacchio
|
If you choose to spare Lumacchio, he will disappear after you rest. You'll find a note later from him telling you that you're a gullible idiot, taunting you for your mercy. This has no effect on the story going forward.
|
Punish Lumacchio
|
You get the satisfaction of killing Lumacchio and gain Humanity.
