The Relationship That Doomed Rachel

Throughout the game, it becomes very clear that Rachel had a secret relationship with the drug dealer, Frank. Yet she was also involv🍃ed in another relationship, albeit an even more hidden and perhaps more "artistically oriented" association than the one she shared with Frank. We are referring to the one she had with Mr. Jefferson.

Not a lot is known about their relationship, but Jefferson claims she was in love with him. And in the second episode, you can find a letter written by Rachel where she tells Chloe that she's obsessed with a new guy, someone who was "different from the lame Vortex Club snobs" and who she considered to be "wise and unconventional."

Initially, there was a lot of debate about the person she was referring to in this letter. Many assumed she was talking about Frank. However, the, saying that Jefferson was the mystery man whom Rachel admired in that letter. It's quite clear the cruel Blackwell Academy teacher saw her as a subject for his sick photography project, but it is unclear exactly how much the two of them interacted with each other since most of their time together occurred before the first game started.

Whether it was an infatuation or a full-blown romance, Rachel's connection with Mr. Jefferson led to her downfall. As he did with plenty of other girls, he drugged her and took photos of her. And his little protégé, Nathan, lent a hand.

According to Jefferson, Nathan "tried to be an artist" and accidentally overdosed Rachel in one of their horrible photography sessions. It's impossible to know if that's really true, though, since Jefferson is hardly a reliable source. In fact, he admitted to Max that he was planning on pinning all of his crimes on Nathan. So his claims about Rachel's death might've been a part of that.

Regardless of who was directly respon🔴si🔴ble, Rachel met a tragic end.
