Destiny gets more slack than most when it comes to buggy launches. It’s a massive game made of countless moving, interconnected parts that continues to grow exponentially with each annual expansion, so the community tends to forgive a lot of the short-term growing pains that plague each expansion. Some issues, like the frequently resurfacing Telesto bug, are even celebrated by the community whenever they pop up. Launch issues are a part of Destiny’s charm by now, but it’s hard to ignore that Lightfall feels especially buggy. Between performance issues, inconsistent mods, overpowered gear, and the cavalcade of usual suspects (I’m looking at you, one-shot Thresher), Lightfall feels like the most busted Destiny 2 expansion I can remember.Lightfall had most of the typical expansion issues. Servers were a bit unstable, causing players to disconnect occasionally throughout launch day, especially when visiting the H.E.L.M. Thanks to the newly revamped mod system, a couple of mods that were not functioning correctly had to be disabled. Both Reaper and Dynamo were turned off after it was discovered that you could generate infinite Super energy in the Crucible, and they’re still deactivated today.
We also got a new Exotic Glaive called Winterbite, the first heavy ammo glaive in Destiny 2, which has also been disabled due to🍃 a bug that causes multiple 🍸players wielding the weapon to deal obscene amounts of boss damage. Arc Hunters’ Disorienting Blow and Jotunn are also currently disabled. All of these tools will likely remain inactive until after this weekend’s raid so they can’t be exploited to land the World’s First. Those are expected bugs by Destiny standards, but there’s a considerable number of issues introduced by Lightfall that Bungie hasn’t fixed yet, and some that haven’t even been directly addressed. If you’re running into similar problems, let this be proof you’re not alone. The big one that most, if not all PC players are experiencing is a performance dip, particularly when in the Neomuna patrol zone, and especially when in the Terminal Overload activity. Frame rates take a nose dive when exploring the city, regardless of your graphics settings. I play i🦹n 32:9 on a pretty beefy PC, and I&rsquo🔯;ve never had a problem maintaining at least 60fps, but now I occasionally dip below 30. This problem isn’t restricted to just Neomuna either, as I’m seeing similar performance issues in Crucible and other activities. Bungie’s help site acknowledges the PC performance issues, but only so far as it affects those with integrated GPUs.
Speaking of Neomuna, 🍸the other big one affecting most players is the Terminal Overload Thresher with a bajillion health that🍃 one-shots anyone it targets. This is connected to an ancient Destiny bug going all the way back to Curse of Osiris that causes adverse effects to players with high frame rate. You will find another example of this in the Lightfall campaign mission Downfall. If your frame rate is too high, the gravity elevator will drop you before it reaches the platform. It is likely that the Thresher’s damage is tied to your frame rate too, as has been the case with other one-shot enemies in the past. Hopefully the Threshers can be addressed, because it makes Terminal Overload particularly frustrating.
Like armor mods, Artifact mods also went through a bit of an overhaul⛄, and as a consequence there are a number of persisting issues. Resetting the Artifact is supposed to be free now, but occasionally you’ll find that resetting still has a Glimmer cost. There’s no way to make it free, but if you check intermittently you’ll eventually find the price has gone away. There are mods that conflict with current builds, like Volatile Flow, which makes the Hunter Exotic chest piece Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk lose its function. Other times, Artifact mods will just refuse to function entirely. On two separate occasions I’ve seen Anti-Barrier Pulse Rifle and Solar Surge stop working until I reset my Artifact and purchased them again, and one time I simultaneously had the Artifact reset bug that forced me to pay for it.
There are many more issues plaguing🌞 Destiny right now. Sometimes players will become permanently invisible to others and themselves. I’ve been affected by this one too, and being unable to see your own guns makes ADSing pretty much impossible. The end mission cinemat🐷ic for this week’s Defiant Battleground won’t play unless you let the mission timer run all the way down. The new Commendation menu has all kinds of issues, including missing commendations, crashing the game, and activating the aforementioned invisibility bug.
It’s been a frustrating launch, to say the least, and it feels like a lot of these issues have been put on hold as Bungie winds up for the launch of Root of Nightmares this weekend. For me, a lot of these things could be brushed off if performance wasn’t such an issue. But there’s a cumulative effect when all these issues come at once. It isn’t ruining Lightfall, but certainly isn’t helping me move past the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:lousy campaign any faster.
