Some of the cosmetic items that came to Fortnite for its infamous crossover event with Star Wars have returned in honor of May 4, Star Wars Day.
Even during a global pandemic Fortnite manages to keep bringing major crossover events to its fans. A week and a half ago, Travi꧟s Scott performed five virtual concerts in-game that were experienced by more than 27 million players. The first concert alone was watched by more than 12 million, a new Fortnite record.
As well as Scott, Fortnite has collaborated with Marvel, Michael Jordan, Stranger Things, Marshmello, and so many more. One of the bigger crossover events took place during the lead up to the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Players could become various characters from the franchise as a ཧStar Destroyer hovered ominously💖 over the island.
Since today (May 4, 2020) is Star Wars Day, Epic has teamed up with Star Wars for a second time to bring some of its magic back to the island. Players can once again purchase Kylo Ren and Rey skins if꧙ they missed out the first time around. The most exciting item reintroduced to the game in honor of this most special of days, though? The lightsaber.
Lightsabers are back on Fortnite for a very𝄹 limited time and (judging how players reacted to them the first time they could be found and used) people are undoubtedly going to be excited about the news. Last time, clips of players mutually agreeing to shed all of their weapons apart from their lightsabers in order to battle honorably popped up all over the place. Fingers crossed we see๊ a repeat of the same shenanigans now that they're back!
The best news of all is that the franchise's return to Fortnite will actually last a little longer than 24 hours, unlike Star Wars Day itself. Although not confirmed by Epic, dataminers have discovered that Star Wars-theme🃏d items will leave the island for a second time at some point on May 6, 2020. So celebrate in style while you can, and keep y꧟our eyes peeled for more epic lightsaber battles as the storm closes in.
