Yesterday, Sega revealed that it'd be sharing a . Beyond giving us our best look yet at the gameplay and story for this year's Yakuza game, it also had a special surprise for Ichiban fans.
Towards the end of the showcase, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio shared a new clip from Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth (or Yakuza 8, if you're still not aware of the series' big name change) that showed Kiryu running into Ichiban, presumably for the first time in the game, and removing him from a pair of handcuffs while saying, "How far has our hero fallen?". A new look at the next mainline game isn't all we got, however, as it was also revealed that The Man Who Erased His Name will feature a special demo for Infinite Wealth.
After sharing the new clip from Infinite Wealth, RGG Studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama revealed that the special demo will be included as part of Like A Dragon: Gaiden and can only be played after the main story has been completed. It's not just a chance to play the next game early, either, as the demo will also feature several different scenes that aren't going to be in the final game. No word yet on what those scenes are or what they contain, but it's going to be a nice bonus for anyone who's planning on picking up Infinite Wealth.
Yokoyama said, "And as you may have been surprised to see, we're including a special trial version of next year's Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth... as the name implies, special content like scenes not included in the main game will be unlocked after completing Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name."
The key art image for the special trial version of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth also seems 🃏to confirm one of the biggest theories surrounding the game currently - that it ওtakes place primarily in Hawaii. The key art shows Kiryu and Ichiban sitting outside a building called the "Cafe Aloha Seaside", which certainly sounds like somewhere in Hawaii. Ichiban is also wearing a Hawaiian shirt in the image, which all but confirms that it's taking place there.
