As you play 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, you unlock various parts of the menu. If you pause the game through the first few chapters, you'll see three sections blocked off by question marks. The first of these to open up is the Sujimon League, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the game's excellent Pokemon parody, and the second is Dondoko Island, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the game's also excellent 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Animal Crossing parody. A notebook remains inaccessible until Chapter 8, where you can start reliving Kiryu's memories and crossing off his bucket list. I had heard great things about the first two, but nothing about the latter one. That's understandable, as it's the least showy or surprising of these features. But it's also the best.

I've already written about how great the other two modes are, but they're add-ons to the base game. They're extra fun things to do if you want to spend even more time playing Infinite Wealth. But Kiryu's memories are a core part of the game, not only in that they continue to interlink with main quests after you unlock them, but because they are a key part of the game's overall themes.

Infinite Wealth knows the value of tenderness
Infinite Wealth's Best Stories Are About People Who Can't Help Falling In Love

Infinite Wealth is🎐 a game that emphasises kindness, romꦅance, and putting your heart out there.

Kiryu's battle with cancer is a central part of his arc and is explored with the usual sensitivity and candour Like a Dragon has always been able to conjure in its most heartfelt moments, even when it's juggling literal adult babies at its silliest. These memories aren't presented as simple Easter Eggs for longtime fans, but as part of what it means to leave a legacy behind. For people with terminal illness, dying is not a light switch. You're not just here and gone. Dying is a march, and for those who have led happy and fulfilling lives, even something of a victory lap.

It's bittersweet as Kiryu revisits his better days, knowing that he has not only led a good life but has inspired goodness in others. He has left the world a better place not only because of his own actions, but because he leaves behind others who will strive to act as he did. I only started playing with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and haven't explored much of the series before that, but I felt Kiryu's memories deeply because they reminded me of others who have passed on. It doesn't ask you to remember the time something funny happened, it asks you to remember how you felt. It understands that memory is not the same as nostalgia.

Perhaps my favourite part of this is the way more memories unlock. Initially, there are no memories at Survive - why would there be, when this is Ichiban's drinking spot, not his? But after he has stopped there for a spot of karaoke, there is a memory there. On that long walk to the inevitable, you are still alive. New memories can be formed, and you can still touch the lives of others. The game embraces the reality of Kiryu's situation - once we play as him, we must rest regularly to avoid tiring his weary body out, and stoic as he is, he is deeply aware of his limited time left and knows that he can leave no thread loose.

The game acts as a goodbye in more ways than one, with the torch now firmly passed and Ichiban ready to forge a new future. But it doesn't just treat these memories as a chance for fans to laugh about the best bits, nor does it suppress them to keep newer players like myself included. It's not really about what Kiryu remembers at all. It's about the art of memory itself, and why it's important to live a rich life. Fewer gaming characters have lived a richer one than Kiryu, and it's fitting that after a life of putting others first, his memories concern those who will carry on his legacy.
