Dragonswing Sortie Special Attack

Like A Dragon Ishin, Ryoma performing the Brawler's Special Attack

This attack is engaဣged by hitting the right trigger. Once it lands, hammer the light atta💖ck, and you will perform a speedy, and damaging, punch combo.

Dharma Tumbler

Like A Dragon Ishin, Ryoma performing the Dharma Tumbler

Komaki will teach you this technique immediately after you have been taught the Special Attack. The Dharma Tumbler is an incredibly useful dodge roll that helps you gain space and evade attacks. It is one of the cornerstones of the Brawler's toolkit. To complete this challenge just mash the roll button. You'll be finished it in seconds.

Komaki Knock Back

Like A Dragon Ishin, Ryoma performing Komaki's Knock Back

This attack allows you to block an enemy's strike, and then repel them with a backhand. Unfortunately, while this is a useful attack against foes who use blunt weaponry, it is substantially less useful against bladed weapons, which most of the enemies in the𝕴 game use. Still, it is useful against those enemies who use blunt weapons. Especially the giant hammer users.

Komaki Evade And Strike

Like A Dragon Ishin, Ryoma performing the Komaki Evade and Strike Attack

This is a very simple, yet effective attack. Use it to follow up a dodge with a quick strike. This allows you to maintain your offense after a quick defensive evasion. In order to complete this trial, you do not need to evade an attack first. So, just dash in and use this move three times to make quick work of Komaki's lesson.

Komaki Tiger Drop

Like A Dragon Ishin, Ryoma performing Komaki's Tiger Drop attack

The Komaki Tiger Drop is one of those skills that is only going to be for a certain type of player. It hits extremely hard and doesn't cost any heat, so that is good, but the timing can be really finicky. It is a great move if you can get a feel for it, but it is unquestionably hard to land against certain opponents. Don't even try to use it on the quick-draw swordsmen. That is a lost cause.

Thankfully, in this trial, you only need to use this skill against highly telegraphed attacks. So, while it isn't an easy attack to land, you only need to successfully land it once here to pass this trial. Just remember, you need to be locked on and you need to pretty the heavy attack button at the last second. If you are getting the kick attack instead, you are too early.

Komaki Cat-Like Reflexes

Like A Dragon Ishin, Ryoma performing the Komaki Cat-Like Reflexes

Cat-Like Reflexes is one of the best recovery techniques in the game. By hitting the dodge roll button just as you hit the ground, you are able to recover and dash away. This can be a literal lifesaver, as it can prevent you from eating follow-up attacks. This trial does require that you get smacked around by a sledgehammer. So, you may want to bring a healing item or two, just in case you struggle to get the timing down.

Of all the skills you are going to learn from Komaki, this is the most important of them. The Cat-Like Reflexes skill applies to all styles and is an incredible defensive tool.

Komaki Shadow Bind

The🍨 Komaki Shadow Bind is another one of those super simple, yet extrem🥀ely effective attacks. This move allows you to dash at an opponent and grab them. Clean, easy, and well worth the skill point.

While this attack is good for the Brawler style, i🗹t is amazing for the Gunman style, which it also appli♍es to.

Komaki Munemitsu Boss Battle

Up until this point, the majority of Komaki's trials have been, well, pretty easy. The final trial makes up for that. Komaki hits for an absurd amount of damage. For starters, you are limited to the Brawler style, which is fair enough. However, you are also not allowed to wear any defensive equipment, which is pretty brutal. What you are allowed, however, is to use healing items. So, make sure to have your inventory loaded wit🎃h them.

Like A Dragon Ishin, Komaki uses his Knock Back technique

Komaki can easily kill you in two combos. And that is if you are decently leveled up. Komaki can be grabbed, but unless you have invested in strengthening that grab, you won't be able to hold him for long at all. He will also use the Komaki Knock Back to disrupt your combos.

Like A Dragon Ishin, Ryoma using the Essence of Mercurial Fortune on Komaki to land a kick to his head

The way to beat Komaki is to parry his attacks, and hit him in the back with a combo. However, you want to keep these combos short, as the longer they are, the more likely he is to disrupt them and land his own stray attack. And to reiterate, this old dude hits like a truck. You will also want to have some heat actions that can hit him while he is evading you. So, the Essence of Mercurial Fortune, which hits him when he breaks your grab, is extremely useful here.

Moreover, if you have the Essence of Mighty Strikes, you may be able to land it on occasion when going for the grab. If you get lucky and sneak it in, it does hit for a lot of damage. The most important thing, though, is that whenever you manage to land a Heat Action, make sure to take advantage by landing a giant combo on him while he is down. This is the source of your most consistent damage.

As long as you can keep your combos compact, and only attack when you have parried him, while also landing Heat Attacks when he pulls away, you should be able to come away with t🍌he victory after a few attempts. Though, if you are looking to make this very tough battle a little easier, there is a way. But it will cost you your honor.

The Mikan Method

Like A Dragon Ishin, Ryoma using the Essence of Mikan to slam Komaki into the ground

One of the first attacks Heat Actions you can unlock in the Brawler style is the Essence of Mikan. This Heat Action can be landed when an opponent is just standing there. No special state required. It does require that you have an orange in your possession, though. So, the strategy is to just buy a ton of oranges from the General Goods store beside the northmost bridge in Rakunai. Then, use this attack whenever you get th꧑e opportunity while fighting Komaki.

While Heat Actions do substantially less damage when repeated, it will still put him on the ground, which means you will be able to land a couple of attacks on him. Make sure to enter into the battle with a full Heat Guage and a healthy supply of Passion Pills. Komaki is still extremely dangerous, even when using this very cheap strategy, but this method do𝕴es make the fight substantially easier.

Book Of Revelations: Throw

Like A Dragon Ishin, Ryoma learns the Essence of the Reverse Throw

Once you beat Komaki, you will be rewarded with the Book of Revelations: Throw. While in possession of this book, you will be able to learn a new heat action. In order to do this, just get into a random encounter, and continuously parry while having at least one bar of Heat Meter. Eventually, you the prompt to land a Heat Action will appear. Press it when it does, and you will h⭕ave a revelatꦓion. You will now be able to learn the Essence of Reverse Throw.
