As you'll notice early in the story, you'll begin to encounter sequences where you are constantly in battle and must navigate a building or compound. Each of these sequences will require you to clear the entire area of enemies to progress to the next room or area. These brawling sequences allow you to transition from battle to battle while never leaving combat and are staples of the series.
From the Millennium Tower to sewers to Yakuza clan hideouts, these fluid combat sequences are a maj🅷or component of the action in the Yakuza series and offer the long🍬est combat scenarios you can expect to find outside the Arena. Usually, the final battle will transpire as a brawl area before you eventually reach a one-on-one encounter with the main antagonist.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon rears its head again as one of the best features from that title – a farmable Arena – makes its way into Ishin. With a system focused on crafting the strongest armor and weapons, it's incredibly helpful to have a spot to return to whenever you need a certain type of material or a rare item to complete your crafting.
Luckily, if you head over to Mukurogai on the eastern side of the map by taking a boat over, you'll encounter the Arena upstairs on the second level. Enter the door at the top of the staircase and check out the many different difficulties and scenarios you can choose from to collect the items you'll need for the best craftable items in the game.

This edition gives you some Legendary-tier character Trooper Cards that feature characters not in Ishin, like Ichiban Kasuga and everyone's favorite bear: Yama-Goroshi.
3 Antagonists Have Japan's Interests At Heart
If you've been playing Yakuza for a while, you'll notice that the villains almost always claim to be absolute sweethearts. Most antagonists, especially Like A Dragon 7's Ryo Aoki, claim to have Japan's greater interest at the heart of their usually self-serving master plans.
Again, this theme reappears in Ishin, with Kondo Isami also pulling this card in his long conversation with Ryoma Sakamoto. He speaks at length about his goals as he and other men – like Takechi Hanpeita – try to convince Ryoma to see things differently, with Japan's ultimate benefit as their main concern.

Majima is the perfect Okita Soji, and there's no other vaguely clueless but well-meaning man to portray Ryoma Sakamoto quite like Kiryu Kazuma does. RGG created such rich and distinct characters that help to inform and flesh out the various heroes, villains, and friends Ryoma encounters in Ishin. While each character develops a unique personality, the influence from their models' 'past lives' is a beautiful touch.
1 💫 Callbacks To Old Substories And Scenarios
The Yakuza series' charm comes primarily through its variety of unexpected substories. As a series veteran, you may notice some familiar entries as you wander around this feudal funhouse. Certain substories, like number 41, "All In The Hips," tells the story of a Ramen chef who is injured on the job and desperately needs a replacement to fill his shift.
Enter Ryoma Sakamoto to fill in as a ramen chef, much like Kiryu Kazuma was asked to do hundreds of years later in Japan. Scenarios like the Ramen chef as well as others with Ishin's best characters, like Ernest Satow, directly link to similar stories with folks just like these. Ernest's character also appears in other games as Bacchus, a man who you can have quite a few drunk musings alongside in Ishin.
