While it may seem like all is lost when your team is placed on the cover of a there are the small💞 few that have trumped the curse's power. Is there some sort of secret behi𓂃nd the curse's power? Guess today we'll find out.

10 Curse Broken: Tom Brady 🌺

brady_madden_curse

Did you really think that curses could affect GOATS? No way, no how. Brady was on the cover of Madden 18 and he even taunted 🍎the curse with a video uploaded  In it he breaks a mirror, walks under a ladder and seems to be very confident that he'll be fine for the 2017 season.

Well, while the Patriots do what they do virtually every year and made the Super Bowl, they did end up losing to Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles. So while we're still consider▨ing this curse busted because making the Super Bowl is a feat in itself, Tom probably should've laid off the mirror.

9 🔯 Very Sℱuperstitious: Peyton Hillis

peyton_hillis_maddencurse

Peyton Hillis might have the most disappointing career of any football player ever after being featured on the cover of Madden. Hillis wasn't even a Pro Bowler when he was selected for the cover of Madden 12, coming off a year in Cleveland where he rushed for 1,177 yards on 270 carri🍨es and 11 touchdowns.

But EA was changing up the game for Madden 12 and was equipping fans with the ability to vote in their favorite star to be featured on the game's cover. You really do have to applaud Browns fans (and Cleveland sports fans in general) for their loyalty because Hillꦯis was voted in... only to have a garbage career after that lasted seven years. Very Browns-esque indeed.

8 Curse Broken: Ray Lewis 🔯

ray_lewis_maddencurse

Ray Lewis is a god among men🐼. Look♔ at that animal up there -- that's a man who should be in the gladiatorial arenas -- instead he's taking the souls of football players. Lewis was an absolute beast of a defensive player and led the Baltimore Ravens to two Super Bowls during his time there.

So ho﷽w fitting was it in 2004 when Lewis became the first defensive player to be featured on a cover of a Madden game. And if a curse couldn't stop Brady then you think it could have any chance of hind𒁃ering the absolute unit that is Ray Lewis? No thank you.

7 Very Superstitious: Shaun A♊lexander

shaun_alexander_madden

Sometimes when th💃e Madden curse hits, it hits hard. Seahawk's running back Shaun Alexander seemed to be hitting a stride in his relatively short and successful career. He was a three-time Pro Bowler and just came off a season where he took his t🧔eam to the Super Bowl.

Unfortunately they would go on to lose against the Steelers, but that didn't stop him from having a lights out season where he rushed for 1,880 yards on 370 carries and scored 27 touchdowns. After Madden he never rushed for 1000 agꦓain, was released from the Seah🐽awks a few years later and hung up his cleats at 31.

6 ✅ Curse Broken: Drew Brees 🦂

drew_brees_madden

Sure the Madden curse may never have plagued New Orleans Saint's quarterback Drew Brees in season -- but it may have had a lingering affect on his playoff ability. Before Madden Brees was the comeback kid, having been a bum on the San Diego Chargers and going to New Orleans to 🦋bring the city a championship in 2009 and become one of football's greatest. But ever since it's been nothing Louisianan voodoo for the team whether it be "Bounty Gate," phantom no-calls or missing the Super Bowl every year since 09. 𒁃Brees is still one of the best we'll ever see, but maybe the Madden curse did catch up to him.

5 Very Superstitious: Donovan McNabb ꩵ

donovan_mcnabb_madden

ESPN analyst Max Kellerman might say Brady has fallen off a cliff, but we think "the cliff" is better reserved for Philadelphia Eagles legend Donovan McNabb. This guy was a hero to younger aspiring football fans and grown men alike and has long been considered the best QB in Eagles history. Besides losing in the Super Bowl to the Pats, everything went right for McNabb, that was until he was featured on Madden 06.

The following season marked the start of the end for the a🐲cclaimed QB starting with a fall out between him and star wide-out Terrell Owens. And then in ꦐweek 9 he suffered a groin injury ending he season with a 4-5 record.

4 Curse Broken: Ca𒉰lvin Johnson

calvin_johnson_madden

Calvin Johnson, better known as Megatron was one of the greatest wide receivers the game has ever seen -- and he did all of it in nine years. The Detroit Lions drafted the talented prospect from Georgia Tech and from day one he started producing. With guns-for-arms QB Matthew Stafford throwing him bombs the two made the most of every game, even when they ended up an entire season without a win. Johnson made the cover of Madden 13 because of stellar ye☂ar where he produced 1,681 yards and 16 TDs. But next year -- oh baby --  he set career-highs in catches and broke the 2000-receiving yard mark. Som𓆏ething no receiver has ever done.

3 Ve꧅ry Superstitious: Rob Gronkowski

gronk_cover_madden

As a Patriots fan this one hurts to include here, but the year after Rob Gronkowski was featured on Madden was one of his most heartbreaking ever. Expectations were high as the Pat♏riots missed the Super Bowl the year before during a soul crushing loss to Peyton Manning's Denver Broncos.

But things would be tough for Gronk all season long as he missed the first two games of the season due to hamstring injury and didn't look himself until mid-season.By that time the all🐻-time great tight-end was playing at a high level until he suffered a back injury🌸 that put him out for the rest f the season. Hey, at least they had that Super Bowl comeback on Atlanta.

2 Curse Broken: Patrick Mahomes 🎶

patrick_mahomes_madden_curse

Well if you ever needed any proof that the Madden curse could be broken you don't have to look any further than this current season of football. The curse did strike Mahomes when he sufferedꦺ a knee-injury in a 30-6 victory over the Denver Broncos. But this is Mahomes we're talking about, while he might not have he career that Brady and Lewis have, he's still a be𒁏ast.

So by playoff time Mahomes was back and he was ready to burn the NFL down. They ended up taking the #2 seed in the AFC and ✨will take on🌺 the San Francisco 49ers for Super Bowl 54.

1 Very Sup🐭erstitious: Michael Vick

mike_vick_madden

Michael Vick, at one point the face of the NFL itself, embodies what it means to be inflicted by the Madden curse.♛ Just look at the cover, everyone bought that game to play as Vick who was virtually unstoppable in real life, but in the game he was the equivalent to using a cheat code.

You couldn't play an online game without running into a Vick worshiper who would run out of the pocket every down for a bazillion yards. But one day after Madden 04's release, the curse struck Vick who broke his leg in a preseason game limiting him to five games in 03. Then came the dog fight scandal which left him suspended and in jail for two years. Thankfully he's bounced back now and seems to be an overall betterꦅ person, but boy did that curse hit hard.
