Planeswalkers are among the most integral figures wಞithin the story of Magic: The Gathering. Beings capable of traversing the planes of the multiverse, Planeswalkers wield incredible magical power. While there are many potent Planeswalker cards within the game, there are also many cards whose in-game viability doesn't quite match up with their power in the story.

On paper, Planeswal🍸kers are among ♋the most powerful and impressive beings within the multiverse. Unfortunately, not all of their cards reflect this, and would be passed up by most players building decks. So today, we're going to examine the bottom of the Planeswalker barrel and see the worst of the worst that Planeswalker cards have to offer!

10 Huatli, The Sun's Heart ♈

Huatli and a Dinosaur in MTG
Huatli, the Sun's Heart by Lius Lasahido

One of the uncommon Planeswalkers that appeared in War of the Spark, while Hualtli, the Sun's Champion isn't as egregious as other entries on this list, it's far from good. A seven loyalty Selesnya Planeswalker for three mana, Huatli's only activated ability is a -3 that causes its controller to gain life equal to the highest toughness among creatures they control. Historically, life gain isn't the most powerful effect, and with it being the only activated ability on this Planeswalker, that should speak f🥂or itself. Luckily, this Huatli is slightly redeemed by its static effect reminiscent of that of Doran the Siege Tower, causing creatures to deal damage via their toughness.

9 ▨ Ashi♛ok, Sculptor Of Fears

ashiok art mtg

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Dimir Ashiok, Sculptor of Fears is the first of many Planeswalkers on this list that was 🔜included as part of an under-powered Planeswalker deck. For the hefty cost of six mana, this iteration of Ashiok has three activated abilities but enters the battlefield with only enough loyalty to activate the first of these abilities.

This means that this first ability is the only one guaranteed to a player, drawing a single card and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:milling a player for two cards. While Ashiok's 🐻-5 ability that can recur a creature from any graveyard, and its -11 that can steal a player's entire board state are both solid effects, the likelihood o𓄧f being able to use either effect is far from promised.

8 Vraska, Scheming ༺Gorgon

Vraska, Scheming Gorgon by Grzegorz Rutkowski

Another card from a Planeswalker deck, Vraska, Scheming Gorgon is a six-mana black Planeswalker with five loyalty that is the epitome of uneconomical. Bearing in mind that this card costs six mana, Vra༺ska's +2 ability provides each creature under its owner's control with +1/+0 un♑til the end of turn. There are far better anthem effects available to players, for far less mana.

While Vraska's -3 of "destroy target creature" can remove threats, there are equivalent removal options that cost a tജhird of the amount of mana. Lastly, though this Vraska's ဣ-11 ultimate ability can hypothetically cause a player to instantly lose the game, eꦺven then, it requires Vraska to stick around for numerous turns, and its controller to have a creature with evasion of some kind.

7 🌌 Jaya, Venerate🔯d Firemage

Jaya, Venerated Firemage by Yongjae Choi

Like the first entry of our list, Jaya, Venerated Firemage is an uncommon Planeswalker from War of the Spark. A red Planeswalker with five loyalty for five mana, Jaya's only activated ability is a -2 that deals two damage to any target. Essentially, this means that Jaya allows a player to pay five mana to cast Shock twice. While Jaya totes a static ability that causes other red so﷽urces to deal an additional one damage, for five mana, players can do much better.

6 🦹 Elspeth, Undaunted Hero ⛄

Elspeth, Undaunted Hero by Steven Belledin

Easily the worst iteration of Elspeth in Magic, Elspeth, Undaunted Hero is a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:mono-white Planeswalker that is unlikely to make any notable impact in a game. Entering the battlefield with 5 loyalty, its +1 can put +1/+1 counters on up to two creatures, while its strange -2 ability is only able to search a library for the underwhelming card, "Sunlit Hoplit," putting that card into play. Though its ultimate can bu🔯ff one's forces based on its owner's devotion to white, it's far from enough to salvage the card.

5 Huatli, Dinosaur Knight 🌳 🍰

Unfortunately for the character of Huatli, this is her second ap🌊pearance on this list. Not only is Huatli, Dinosaur Knight an over-costed and underpowered spawn of a Planeswalker Deck, but it is among the most narrow 🥂cards of this kind.

Each ability on this 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Huatli only interacts with dinosaurs, meaning that it can do little to nothing in decks that aren't dinosaur tribal. Capable of putting +1/+1 counters🅰 on dinos, allowing dinos to deal damage equal to their power to targets, and buffing each dinosaur its own c⭕ontrols, even in dinosaur tribal decks, this card's steep price can't be validated.

4 Cღhandra, Pyrogenius

chandra art mtg

Chandra, Pyrogenius was one of the first Pl🌠aneswalker deck Planeswalkers and set the standard of the low quality to expect from such cards. Overcosted at 6 mana, this mono-red card's +2 is only able to deal two damage to each opponent, while its -3 can deal three damage to a creature. Neither of these abilities are acceptable rates for the investment of six mana. Though its ultimate is capable of producing the effect of a mini "board wipe" the chance of this ability ever resolไving is slim to none.

3 Tezzeret, Cruel M꧑achinist 🎐

tezzert art mtg
Tezzeret, Cruel Machinist by Zack Stella

While there have been numerous useful Tezzeret cards in the past, this is definitely not one of them. F♋or six mana, this five-loyalty blue Planeswalker's +1 simply draws its controller one card. For six mana, this is pathetic, to say the least.

However, the most horrible element of this card is its ultimate, which puts any number of cards from its controller's hand onto the battlefield, faced down as 5/5 creatures. While 5/5 creatures are nothing to scoff at, this comes at the expense of being able to play cards! When compared to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:other blue Planeswalkers, this card's lack of 🐭quality becomes ꩵmore and more apparent.

2 🌳 Liliana, Death Wielder

liliana art mtg

Liliana, Death Wielder costs a staggering seven mana. For seven mana, a card should tote impressive abilities that can push a player closer to victory. Instead🥀, this Liliana's +2 ability only puts a -1/-1 counter on a creature. While that could be worse, its -3 ability can only destroy a creature with a -1/-1 counter on it. This means that for seven mana, this card would take two entire turns to destroy a single cre🃏ature, something that numerous instants can do for two or three mana.

1 🧸 Tibalt🍃, The Fiend-Blooded

tibalt art mtg

If you know anything about the Planeswalkers of Magic: The Gathering, you knew that Tibalt would be number one on this list. A 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:mono-Red Planeswalker for two mana, while Tibalt doesn't requiꦗre much mana to cast, it can be an active detriment to its owner. This is because, like the previously mentioned Ashiok, it is only able to activate its +1 ability when it first enters the battlefield. This +1 ability is absolutely abysmal, causing its controller to discard a card at random, potentially getting rid of a useful card. While Tibalt's -6 ability can hypothetically turn the tide of a game, it requires a player to activate Tibalt's +1 ability five turns in a row without anything hurting it.
