Wizards confirmed back in December last year that the free-to-pl✱ay title would be launching on Steam at some point in the near future, but has now announced a release d♎ate of May 23 for Magic fans to look forward to.

While details other than the release date are fairly thin on the ground at the moment, it has been clarified that Magic: The Gathering Arena's Steam release will still support crossplay with other platforms. That means you'll still be able to play a🏅gainst people playing on Win༒dows and MAc as well as iOS and Android.

For those that haven't heard of MTG Arena, it's essentially a digital version of the physical game and supports both Constructed Deck play and Limited play. It is free-to-play, which means there are some optional microtransactions included which lets players guy in-game currency. These can be used to purchase booster packs to help build up your dec🌊ks, or can be used to enter yourself into certain events. It's a fairly popular method of playing Magic if you can't get to any physical games, and will now be available to a lot more people with the Steam release.

Of course, Magic: The Gathering Arena's Steam release wasn't the only thing announced at MagicCon today, as Wizards of the Coast also revealed that its highly-anticip🤪ated Doctor Who Commander decks will launch later this year on Octo🅺ber 13. On top of tha♑t, it was also revealed that we'll get our first look at these four Commander decks at MagicCon Barcelona which takes places on July 28, with a full debut to take place over a week before launch on October 3.
