While we’ve still got the Doctor Who to look forward to later this year, Wizards of the Coast has unveiled 2024’s 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond Commander decks will be based on the popular Fallo﷽ut series.
Bringing the iconic characters, places, and aesthetic of the post-nuclear Fallout universe, you won’t even have to wait all that long for this team up with Bethesda Softworks. The decks will be launching in March 2024, less than six months after 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Doctor Who.
Revealed at the Gen Con Magic 30 panel, Universes Beyond: Fallout will feature four Commander decks based on the Fallout series. The launch date suggests this will be the year’s🐼 big Commander release, which is usually tied into the spring sets like March of the Machine, Streets of New Capenna, and Strixhaven: School of Mages, whi🐽ch each has five decks each, although this is currently unconfirmed.
According to Wizards, the decks will include “Bloodthirsty raiders, towering super mutants, irradiated monsters, and retro-futurist robots”, as well as many of the Wasteland’s “colorful factions”. No names have been suggested, but a Fallout release without either the New California Republic or the Brotherhood of Steel would be very surprising indeed. We’re probably a few months away at least from knowing the deck themes or their face commanders, giving us a fun few🥀 months of rampant speculation.
Assuming Fallout follows the same formula Warhammer 40,000 and Do🍸ctor Who have used for their Commander decks, each of the Fallout ♉decks should mostly be brand new cards, with reprints all given new art to fit the Fallout universe a little better.
One thing still unrevealeꦦd is whether Fallout will also be receiving Collector booster packs, like Doctor Who, that include exclusive alt-art and foil treatments not found in the decks themselves. Alternatively, it could instead follow Warhammer 40,000’s lead and do Collector editions of the decks themselves, which saw every card receive an e𒉰xclusive “surge foiling” version.
Although a post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland doesn’t sound like a perfect fit for Magic, Fallout is known for its unique visual style that combines the blown-out shells of civilisation with a retrofutur🧔istic, ‘50s flair. With locations like The Commonwealth, New Vegas Strip, Big Empty, and Nuka-World all available for backdrops, Fallout seems like a perfect fit for the game.
Universes Beyond: Fallout should be hot on the heels of another dusty, gun-slinging release for Magic this year, the Wild West-themed 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Outlaws At Thunder Junction. Fallout is one of two Universes Beyond releases currently revealed for 2024, alongside an Assassin's Creed set launching later in the year, and also a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy set scheduled to launch in 2025.
