The vast majorit🌞y of those high-demand cards have gold symbols denoting their rarity, b🍌ut what of the common black-symboled cards? Commander Masters is reprinting staple cards that every Commander player will want, although some are just every so slightly better than others. Here are the ten best common cards coming in Commander Masters.

10 ✨ Command Tower 🏅

MTG Command Tower by Ryan Lee

Outside of the monocolored Commander decks, Command Tower is the land that literally every deck should have. Being able to tap for any color of mana with zero downsides makes Command Tower better than the vast majority of dual or multi-colored mana-producing land🎃s out there.

It’s about as easy to get a Command Tower as possible, what with one being in every single Commander deck ever sold by Wizards of the Coast. Still, just because it&r𓄧squo;s common doesn’t mean it’s not potent.

9 𝓀 Wayfarer’s ♛Bauble

MTG Wayfarer's Bauble by Darrell Richie

Imagine a Rampant Growth, but it’s a colorless artifact so it can be thrown in every Commander deck that needs a bit of ramp. Wayfarer’s Bauble is the answer for many colors that otherwise lack the ability to ramp up their mana as fast as they’d like--which is to say, blue, black, red, and white. Green already has Rampant Growth, as well as several other cards we’ll discus🐟🥀s later on.

Don’t discount the fact Wayfarer’s ♚Bauble is an artifact. This allows it to synergize with artifact-heavy decks or any card that ♑likes to trigger on an activated ability. Be sure to grab a few of these in Commander Masters if you don’t already have them.

8 Ulamog's Crusher

MTG Ulamog's Crusher by Todd Lockwood

Few of Magic’s giant monsters are found at common rarity. Ulamog’ওs Crusher is one of the very few, and possibly the best giant monster you’ll ever get without spending real cash. Eight mana for eight power is 💦fine, but the fact that Ulamog’s Crusher takes two permanents with each swing makes it a terrifying threat.

If your opponent doesn’t havౠe a kill spell handy (and 🌠one that isn’t stymied by the its lack of color), Ulamog’s Crusher can end games on its own. All you need to do is keep it alive to your next turn.

7 ▨ The Urzatron Lands

MTG Urza's Power Plant by Brian Snoddy

One great way of casting Ulamog’s Crusher is getting all three of the Urzatron lands: Urza’s Power Plant, Urza&rsquo🍷;s Mine, and Urza’s Tower. T💛hey conveniently provide eight colorless mana from just three lands. Talk about efficiency mana production!

The only problem with the Urzatron is finding them in a 100-card Commander dec♑k. Both Rampant Growth and Wayfarer’s Bauble search for basic lands, which the Urazatron are not, but there are plenty of uncommon and rare ways to search out lands that you might want to assemble into a mana-generating machine.

6 Ilys𓃲ian Caryatid

MTG Ilysian Caryatid by Winona Nelson

Another great way of getting Ulamog’s Crusher out is through Ilysian Caryatid. This gr💙een mana-producing creature provides double the mana so long as you have a creature with four or more power. Considering gree𒆙n’s ability to produce big creatures is unparalleled, you shouldn’t have too much trouble getting a big beastie on the board so the Caryatid can help cast an even bigger beastie.

5 Shelter

MTG Shelter by Alayna Danner

🦹Sure, Shelter is just a 💛combat trick, but it’s a very good combat trick. Protect a creature from the color of your choice, and draw a card for your trouble. In most Commander games, this generally means keeping your commander alive and foiling your opponent’s plan. Oh, and you still have the same hand size when you’re done.

Too many Commanders forget that having instant-speed tricks up your sleeve can win games. Keep Shelter on your radar 📖for your next deck that splashes white mana.

4 🐓 Ornithopter of Paradise 🍌

MTG Ornithopter of Paradise by Raoul Vitalie

Considering how most mana rocks that produce any color of mana cost three, Ornithopter of Paradise’s two-mana price tag seems like a steal. On top of ജthat, it’s a flying creature that’s caౠpable of being pumped with power to go on the offensive later on. It’s a win win card.

Yes, Ornithopter of Paradise suffers dual vulnerabilities from being both an artifact and a creature, but it’s unlikely to eat a Lightning Bolt and it’s too tough to die to the many ⭕creatures that ping for one damage. If you were already planning on playing Wayfarer’s Bauble, consider Ornithopter of Paradise too.

3 ⭕ Sinew Sliver ꦆ

MTG Sinew Sliver by Steven Belledin

Slivers are back in Commander Masters, and there’s no better Sliver than the Sinew Sliver. When it first arrives, it’s a bear. But once your Sliver army gets going, it’s a +1/+1 source that acღcepts every other buff your Slivers produce.

Things get even better when you bring Sinew Sliver outside of the Commander format, of coursꦉe, but even with just one Sinew Sliver available, any Sliver deck worth its salt will have thi🎀s card among the 99 others.

2 Kodama's Reach / Cultivate

MTG Kodama's Reach by John Avon

We’re pairing these cards together since they’re basically the same. Both Kodama’s Reach and Cultivate let you look through your de🐼ck, pick out two basic lands, and put one into play and the other into your hand. It’s both ramp and a tutor, albeit tutoring for just a basic land.

Still, ramp and extracting basic lands from your de💖ck to put into play are two things that Commander decks want to do ❀as much as possible. Most green Commander decks will play both of these cards, and so should you.

1 ꦏ Ash Barrens

MTG Ash Barrens by John Avon

Speaking of extracting basic lands from your deck, enter Ash Barrens. In the early game, it’s a land that produces basic mana to make sure you don’t mi𓂃ss a dro൩p. Later on, it’s a basic landcycling card that fixes your mana and thins your deck. Any deck that plays more than a single color should consider Ash Barrens.

Keep in mind that Ash Barrens does more than what it says on t⛦he tin. It triggers discard effects too since landcycling asks you to discard, not play.
