It doesn't matter if she's in Baldur's Gate 3 or a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Magic: The Gathering set, Karlach is a fiery barbarian tiefli💞ng that just screams aggression. Her Magic iteration makes for an amazing commander thanks to her ability to double your comಞbat phases and produce explosively violent turns that are capable of winning games.

Every Card In Magic: The Gathering's Murders At Karlov Manor

The bodies are pil♊ing up and the game is afoot in Magic: 💞The Gathering's murder mystery-themed set, Murders At Karlov Manor.

But Karlach can't do it alone. Karlach needs the support of an entire deck to shine bright with the fires of Avernus. Cards that unleash Karlach as soon as she hits the table, or take advantage of her multiple combat phases, are surefire winners, while backgrounds allow you to expand beyond her magma-fueled mana color. Here are the best cards for a Karlach commander deck.

10 🍨 Swiftfoot🗹 Boots

A staple for a reason

Image of the Swiftfoot Boots card in Magic: The Gathering, with art by Manuel Castañón

We begin with what s𒆙ome might consider a 🎐no-brainer. The primary reason to run Swiftfoot Boots is hexproof, which keeps Karlach safe from most removal. However, Karlach also benefits greatly from haste, which allows her to attack the turn she comes into play.

Karlach’s ability to let you attack more than once gets better and better the more turns she’s alive to attack. Having 🌟hasꦉte and hexproof essentially guarantees she’ll at least be able to attack twice the turn she comes into play before an opponent is forced to deal with her through a board wipe. Hexproof means you can still buff Karlach to take advantage of her first strike keyword on the second attack.

Lesser options here include Lightning Greaves and Champion's Helm but definitely include Swiftfoot Boots in any Karlach deck.

9 A Backgrou🙈nd

Everybody’s got one

Another no-brainer for any Karlach deck is a Background to go with her. There are a lot of options here, ranging from Backgrounds in other colors to expand your commander deck's usable card base, to same-color Backgrounds that simply enhance Karlach's fiery personality.

A few worthy of note include Tavern Brawler, Sword Coast Sailor, and Hardy Outlander. Karlach fits neatly into a red/green ramp deck, making Hardy Outlander a great choice. Sword Coast Sailor ma💞kes Karlach unblockable, and access to blue gives you a bunch of card draw and combat tricks to perform. Tavern Brawler makes your Karlach Deck pure red, but who cares when Karlach is getting buffs and playing the top card of your library?

8 Witch's Mark

Wicked

MTG - Witch's Mark

Red has a problem: it has trouble drawing cards. Red has no problem playing cards from exile or finding fun ways to play cards from your opponents' decks, but going through more of your deck than one card per turn is a challenge. That's what Witch's Mark is here for.

Technically it's not card advantage, because you'll wind up with the same number of cards after casting Witch's Mark as you started. But they'll be different cards, which can make a world of difference. Plus, Karlach will have +1/+1, which is nice.

Also worth considering are Big Score and Seize the Spoils, which come🔜 with Treasure tokens. If you’re running a background with access to a different color, look into playing cards that might provide actual card advantage.

7 Sword o⛦f the Animist 🥀

Lands Are Better On The Table Than In Your Deck

MTG - Sword of the Animist

Sword of the Animist does more than you might think. Yes, it lets you search out a basic land every time you atta🍌ck (which is twice every turn for Karlach), but it also removes lands from your deck, making it more likely to draw cards that will have a greater impact on the game later on.

Plus, Sword of the Animis🏅t also gives a helpful power boost to Karlach which gives her second attack a little more oomph. Ramp, deck-thinning, and extra power for the low price of two mana make Sword of the Animist a must-have.

6 ܫ Etali, Primal Storm

Every Barbarian Needs A Dinosaur Friend

Karlach means attacking a lot, and Etali loves it when it gets to attack. Every time Etali, Primal Storm attacks, you get to look at the top card of everyone's library and cast their spells without paying their mana costs. Doing that twice per turn can completely swing games in your favor.

Etali is unfortunately fairly vulnerable for a big dinosaur, and a kill-on-sight card in Commander, so you'll also want to have cards that provide Etali with haste, so it will at least have a chance to attack. That could be Swiftfoot Boots, but also consider Rising of the Day or Urabrask the Hidden.

5 ✤ Laelia, the Blade Reforged

The Spirit Of Aggression

Another great pairing with Karlach is Laelia, the Blade Reforged. Her ability lets you play the top card of your library every time she attacks, and since Karlach lets her attack twice, that's two cards every turn. Plus, she gets bigger with every card exiled, making her an escalating threat that can be played in the early game.

A great Background to pair Laelia with is Passionate Archaeologist, which lets you burn an opponent every time you cast a spell from exile. Throw in Grenzo, Havoc Raiser, Mezzio Mugger, Tectonic Giant, and Robber of the Rich, and you've got plenty of ways to cast spells from exile. But even without a dedicated deck around this mechanic, Laelia is perfect for Karlach.

4 ♎ Utvara Hellkite

It's Always More Fun To Have More Dragons

MTG - Utvara Hellkite

Normally, Utvara Hellkite can make just one 6/6 flying Dragon per turn. But with Karlach, you can make tw🃏o per turn. Or with Port Razer, Combat Celebrant, Relentless Assault, and Savage Beating, you can make many, many Dragons per turn.

Red isn't the color of rocket science. Don't overanalyze it. You attack, attack, attack, and make more dragons until you win the game. It's a simple strategy, but it works. It's also available in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ravinca Remastered.

3 Embercleav🐷e

Greatswords Are Better Than Greataxes. There, I Said It.

Embercleave MTG Card

Karlach gets first strike on her second attack, but that still leaves her somewhat vulnerable on her first attack. But what if she suddenly had double strike and trample from out of nowhere? Enter Embercleave, the instant-speed equipment that ensures your Karlach can smash her way through an enemy's defenses like they weren't even there.

Embercleave is fantastic in any aggressive red deck, but since Karlach loves to attack with friends, Embercleave's prohibitive six-mana price tag becomes a far more reasonable number. And since it has flash, you can cast it as though it were a fun combat trick rather than an incredibly powerful piece of equipment.

2 Moraug, Fury of Akoum 💃 ꧂

Never Stop Attacking

Moraug, Fury of Akoum

Spea🍃king of attacks, Moraug loves to attack even more than Karlach does. Every time a creature attacks, it gets +1/+0 for that turn, and every time you play a land, you get a♕nother attack. Normally, this would mean one extra attack per turn, which, when combined with Karlach, means three attacks.

However, once you've got Sword of the Animist (or Sword of Forge and Frontier) in play, now you've got as many attacks as you have basic lands. That's a death sentence for most players if they don't have an answer.

1 ✨ Delina, Wild Mage

I Said: Never. Stop. Attacking.

Delina, Wild Mage Magic: The Gathering card overlaid over artwork.

Karlach will only provide you with an extra combat phase after the first combat each turn. But if you have two Karlachs, both of their abilities trigger, which means you'll get two combat phases after the first one. And Delina is a great way to make two Karlachs on the battlefield.

If you get lucky, you can even make multiple Karlachs per attack, which means mu💧ltiple combat phases. Throw in a bit of haste, and Delina can make for some truly explosive turns.
