As the mascot for one of the biggest gaming companies on the planet, Mario is also one of its greatest heroes in terms of the games he is playable in. Never taking a kidnapping lying down and always willing to put himself in harm's way 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser, it'𝕴s hard to find someone more heroic in the Mushroom Kingdom.

That being said, Mario has made some questionable decisions in the 35 years he has been one of the biggest names in gaming, with some of them putting his status as a hero into serious question. Although he may not be 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:as bad as Bowser, there are times when he isn't far off the mark.

10 Kills ❀The Citizens For Money

A level in Super Mario World, with Mario riding Yoshi, a Chargin' Chuck, and a Piranha Plant

One of the most well-known aspects of the original Super Mario games is the disturbing implications of breaking bricks discovered after reading the instruction manual. In the manual, it states that the citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom, the Toads, have all been turned into various plants and inanimate objects, including the bricks that Mario breaks to get a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:few extra coins. Considering he is supposed to be saving these people, it's a bit of an evil move to be 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:killing these Toads just for the chance at earning a 1Up.

9 ܫ Destroys Buildings For No Reason 𒐪

Castle destruction at the end of Super Mario

In earlier Super Mario games, likely due to his✱ growing frustration at Peach always being in another castle, Mario would demolish the building he had just run through once he has completed those levels. Considering how long it would have taken to construct some of those buildings, particularly with the larger castles, those structures could have gone a long way in rebuilding the Mushroom Kingd♒om once Bowser is defeated. Instead, Mario acts like a child throwing a tantrum and just destroys what could have been affordable housing for the Toads.

8 Breaks The ⛦Economy

Aside from breaking most objects he comes across, particularly in the 2D games, Mario also loves to break down 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mushroom Kingdom's economy by hoarding all of the money for himself.

Although Mario does spend some of it🎃, most of his 🔯coins are simply converted into second chances in the form of lives and aren't injected back into the economy. Finding a few spare coins on the ground is one thing, but when some rooms hold upwards of 100 coins each, Mario is definitely doing more harm than good in the long run.

7 Treats Luigi Badly 𝓰

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Luigi is often looked down on by most of the Mushroom Kingdom, but you would think that if anyone would have his back, it would be Mario. However, it seems like Mario takes every chance he can to knock his brotheꦺr down a peg or two, particularly as seen in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Mario Power Tennis, where he either abuses the poor plumber or ignores him entirely. Luigi may be far more cowardly than Mario, but he has the potential to be just as great a hero as his brother, if only those around him stopped treating him as a second class citizen.

6 Doesn't Do Everything He Can To Stop Bowser 𒁏

C🍷onsidering how often Bowser likes to cause trouble for the people of Mushroom Kingdom, particularly with how often he likes to kidnap the monarch, you would think that Peach or Mario would be doing more to prevent him from returning. It seems like Peach is somewhat naïve when it comes to Bowser, but both she and Mario should know better considering how often he is the root of the majority of problems that plague their land.

5 Treats The Yoshis Badly 🐟

Yoshi With Mario riding him holding a blaster

It's one thing to treat your siblings badly since sibling rivalry is mostly expected even in the world of video games. On the other hand, it's far less acceptable to treat those who raised you with love and care with the same level of disrespect. Both Mario and Luigi were 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:raised by the Yoshis from infancy, but Mario seems to take every chance he can to either punch a Yoshi to make its tongue f⛄ly out or leap from its back to get a few extra feet of height while letting them drop to their death. Mario may have some pent up aggression at the fact that he has to rescue Peach every week, but that's no reason to take it out on the Yoshis.

4 Doesn't Actually Protect Peach 𝔍 🍸

Princess Peach and Mario

Despite being the hero of the series, Mario always seems to be on the back foot when it comes to protecting Princess Peach from her weekly kidnapping. In nearly every scen𒁃ario, Peach could have been saved from k💃idnapping had she had just a handful of guards posted to her room.

Considering he is a plumber that is never once seen actually doing his job, it would be reasonable for him to simply take a role as Peach's permanent bodyguard, but, instead, he simply waits for trouble to 🅺inevitably find her and only act once she is already missing.

3 Mind Controls Innocent Crea༒tures

Mario as Bowser next to Peach in Super Mario Odyssey

The gameplay gimmick of the latest Super Mario title, Odyssey, is a lot of fun to abuse as simply the♈ gamer behind the action, but there are much wider implications to his mind control when the fact his victims are all sentient beings comes into pl🍒ay. Most of the regular citizens and creatures of the Mushroom Kingdom are in no shape to be taking on Bowser, but Mario is willing to put their bodies and lives on the line simply because Cappy gave him this power. Mario could take an ethics lesson from Spider-Man once in a while.

2 He Doesn't Recruit Consistent Help 🙈

Captain Toad meets Mario

There may not be a consistent military or law enforcement organization in the Mushroom Kingdom, but there are more than enough powerful beings to create some kind of Justice League-style protective detail against Bowser and his minions. Instead, Mario chooses to enlist the ♚help of civilian Toads mor🎀e often than not, the majority of which either become victims very quickly or are in no shape to help Mario in the first place.

1 ♓ He Doesn't Hold Bowser Accountable

Close up of Bowser

One of the things Mario never doꦛes that makes him arguably the worst hero in all of gaming history is the fact he never holds Bowser accountable for his actions. Instead of doing the sensible thing and imprisoning him or even just banishing him from the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario and Peach just let Bowser walk away after every defeat and let him get 🐈his eventual revenge, allowing the cycle of violence to continue over and over again.
