Over the long history of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mario Kart there have been well over a hundred tracks, and Nintendo keeps making more. Their vision for what can count as a Mario Kart track continues to push boundaries, too, from crossovers with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Legend of Zelda, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Animal Crossing, and Splatoon to tracks base🌼d on real global cities. (Which does beg the question, if Mario is racing in London and Paris, does that mean he lives on…Earth?)
With so many possibilities for new tracks and crossovers, what other famous g𒅌ame locations—both within and beyond Nintendo’s universe—would make for thrilling future raceways?
10 ও 🌺 Earthworm Jim 2 - Villi People
In Earthworm Jim 2 there is one level where Jim disguises himself as a cave salamander and must navigate the corridors of a living intestine-like planet. And yes, we kn🌠ow no one at Nintendo is remotely considering this for a Mario Kart crossover. But just imagine if they were!
Since the rest of the places on this list aren’t quite as outlandish, we thought we’d get the weirdest one out of the way first. But its inclusion represents all t🐼he truly bizarre locations possible in video games, and it sure would be an unforgettable trip racing among the villi and pinball bumpers of this surreal organic world.
9 💃 Wave Race: Blue Storm - Ocean City Harbor ༺
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:It’s been decades since Nintendo released a new Wave Race game, so why not bring the personal waꦜtercraft racing experience to Mario? The cars and bikes could all float on the water in this stage, and♒ the rough waves and stormy weather are unlike anything seen in Mario Kart’s current tracks.
Alternatively, it might just be bette🧸r to give Mario and his friends their own aquatic racing spin-off. We’ve seen them racing on land, on gliders, and underwater, so taking to the waves—or at least having watercraft as a selectable vehicle among others—could be the next frontier.
8 ꧋ Transistor - Cloudbank 🧸
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Supergiant Games is probably best known for the Hades series now, and their distinctive spin on the Greek underworld would make for an excellent Mario Kart track, too. But what about looking back to their 2014 sci-fi gem 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Transistor and its noirish city Cloudbank?
Rendered with Jen Zee’s lush hand-drawn art style, and set to Darren Korb&rs൲quo;s memorable soundtrack, Cloudbank could be a stylish and atmospheric course. Red does ride a motorcycle through the city, and if she can do it, surely Mario could, too.
7 🐻 Shantae - Sequin Laꦑnd
WayForward has made many games for Nintendo consoles, and we’d be ret-2-go on a Mario Kart Shantae crossover. The track could take you on a tour through various Shantae areas like Scuttle Town, the beach, or the mermaid factory and include cameos from the regu𒈔lar cast. (And, of course, Squid Baron has to show up at some point, too.)
The look of the stage could embrace its source material’s expressive, anime-inspired art. And there could even be fourth-wall-breaking d🌞ialogue, displayed in text boxes on the screen, to capture the games’ signature wit.
6 WarioWare - 🎃WarioWare, Inc.
This whole track would be inspired by 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:WarioWare microgames, with a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:bevy of brief, ridiculous hazards. Drive into a nose while dodging falling eye drops. Then avoid falling i♎nto a giant blender. Then swerve around punching polar bears or disco-ing cats on a dancefloor. You get the idea.
Wario is already in Mario Kart, and we’ve seen WarioWare seamlessly adapted to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Smash Bros., so it isn’t too much of a leap to think it could get a crossover, too. It could actually be hilarious to havꦯe micro-tracks as well, with tiny races that are over in just a few seconds.
5 Donkey Kong Country - Gangplank Galleon ꦕ
King K. Rool’s ship is a classic final boss stage, and a track based on it could also be a way to showcase other locations from the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Donkey Kong Country series. You could start on the boat, then disembark💞 for a route through the Krem Quay, a mineshaft, or even a honey-lined Zinger beehiv𓄧e area.
But really, the main reason to have Gangplank Galleon is its theme song. Just listen to its epic arrangement from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and tell u🐬s that isn’t something you want to race to.
4 The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask𝓡 - Stone Tower Temple
Link has been to many memorable dungeons throughout the Legend of Zelda series that could make for inventive tracks. But the Sto🐈ne Tower Temple from Majora’s Mask stands out because of its unique twist—it can flip upside-down.
Imagine a track where you get to the end, then have to race bac♛k through the same course inverted 180 degrees. It’d require a brilliant and meticulous layout, much like the original dungeon, but we’d love to see such an impressive coup of Mario Kart design. Since racers could be at different points on the track at any given time, it probably shouldn’t actually flip. But if you hit an antigravity panel at one end and then clung to the ceiling for your way back, that could offer a similar effect.
3 ♎ Final Fantasy 7 - Midgar
While there is already a sci-fi city on this list, it’d be a hoot to see a crossover between Mario Kart and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 7. This could be a track with a separate beginning and end rather than a circuit of multiple laps. You’d start in a mako reactor, and just as Cloud and his team have to escape the reactor at the start of FF7 before 🅠their bomb goes off, you, too, would be racing against time to be the first one out.
Or instead, there could be a circuit that takes you through the various sectors of Mi𒆙dgar and the Shinra Building. This may be a better way to show off the cast, too, who would present hazards along the way. We’re not sure how Nintendo would feel about Mario having to dodge Barrett’s gunfire, but we’d sure be up for it.
2 🧜 Kirby - The Halberd
After so many other Nintendo crossovers, Mario Kart is overdue for Kirby content. And while his world is full of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:amazing places to race, we’d most want to see a track set on the Halberd. Meta Knig🍌ht’s ship is full of iconic artillery and enemies who could make an appearance. Avoid blasts from the Combo Cannon. Watch out for the Heavy Lobster. And admire scenes of Dream Land far below.
Maybe what we’re really asking for is another Kirby Air Ride. But bringing Kirby to Mari💦o Kart would be the next best thing.
1 🐼 Your Own Custom Track
What’s even better than getting a new Maꩵrio Kart crossover? The ability to create your own! For all of Mario Kart’s innovations, we still don’t have a track editor, and that’s our most desired request for future installments.
Even better would be a full-on Mario Kart Maker. More than just a matter of drawing a route and choosing a theme, an environment editor could let players design the tracks and crossovers of their dreams. It’d be incredible to see what the creativity of the Mario Kart community would come up with. (And if you want to make an Earthworm Jim-esque intes🅘tine full of pinball bumpers, we aren’t going to stop you.)
