Mario🅺 Kart World: How To Get The Boost A⛄t The Start Of A Race

If✤ you ever get tired of the same old Mushroom Kingdom in Mario Kart World, just flip it. For that, you'll need Mirror Mode, letting you literally view a mirrored version of the world. However, such a feature is not one youꩲ can unlock very easily. Oh no, you've got to put the work in for it. Here's how to unlock it.
What Is Mirror Mode?
Mirror Mode is basically exactly what it sounds like. It lets you play through every track in the game, but mirrored. Functionally, this doesn't change anything beyond flipping the whole map, but a lot of your muscle memory will get unworked by such a t꧒hing, forcing you to learn this maps all over again.
Mirror Mode is accessible in Grand Prix and Versus races, letting you play in individual tracks mirrored. It's a trip at first, but one you will only come across out talented after masteri😼ng.
How To Unlock Mirror Mode
Unlocking Mirror Mode is the hard part. With the game so fresh, there is a lot of hearsay on how exactly Mirror Mode is unlocked, especially since the game doesn't tell you what the requirements are. It only unlocks after every requirement is met, and there are quite a few at play here.
To unlock Mirror Mode, to the best of our knowledge, requires splitting your play across more traditional racing and the new Free 🐽Roam mode. Here's what you have to do in each:
Free Roam Objectives
Here, there are a trio of tasks that are available to you: P-Switches, Question Panels, and Peach Medallions. While the exact number of all of them is uncertain, you de🐽finite♛ly require a minimum of 10 Peach Medallions.
As such, the Free Roam requirements are the f♍ollowing:
- Collect 10 Peach Medallions.
- Drive over 10 Questions Panels.
- Complete 10 P-Switch missions.
Once you have completed🐻 these, you can then proceed onto the racꦿing objectives.
Racing Objectives
The requirements here are simpler to access, but are much more demanding. It requires completing just about every race there is in the game. T🤡his means completing all eight Grand Prix races, and all eight Knockout Tours. Here's exactly what you need to achieve.
- Complete every Grand Prix at 150cc in the top 3. Bronze is the minimum, gold and silver are not needed, but it must be at 150cc.
- Complete every Knockout Tour at 150cc. For this, you do not need to win at all, but just complete the Knockout Tour at 150cc.
After completing both the Free Roam and Racing objectives, you can then complete the final Grand Prix. If you've already done so beforehand, you will have to do so again as it triggers a special post-credits cutscene once all the requirements are met, with Mirror Mode unlocking directly afterward.

How To Use Mirror Mode In Other Game Modes
Using Mirror Mode in Versus and Grand Prix is easy. When you would usually choose what cc to race at, choose the newly-added Mirror Mode instead. This inver✨ts the map, but otherwises plays under the 150cc settings.
How To Use Mirror Mode In Free Roam
Since Free Roam is entered directly from the main menu with no additional settings, there is no Mirror Mode option to choose from. However, you can still enter it in the middle of Free Roam. All you have to do is get to the top of Peach's Castle and drive right into the stained glass windows. You'll enter into it Mario 64-style,🌸 🐼and pop back out into a mirrored version of the open-world map.
