The reason Mario Party fans are up in arms is due to the fact Superstars' Tug O' War controls appear to be the same as the ones the mini-game featured on N64. The game required you to rotate the controller's analog stick as quickly as possible. Some players opted to do that using their palms rather than their thumbs which left them with blisters on their hands. Nintendo even offered up gloves to remedy the problem.

Not only did the mini-game leave children with injured hands, but a lot of people reported it broke their controllers. Since there is still ongoing controversy over Switch controllers suffering from Joy-Con drift, some have even criticized Nintendo of bringing Tug O' War back on purpose as a way to break more controllers. That will obviously lead to more people needing to buy replacements and more money in Nintendo's pocket.

Tug O' War isn't the only element from Mario Party's N64 era returning via Superstars.
