The first of your two main missions in Beacon Beach is In Deep Water, a sprawling quest that involves your Heroes plunging into the Sunrise Temple to defeat the Darkmess Tentacle and the boss of the area, Giant Wildclaw. Upon defeating him, you'll earn the first of a pair of Purified Darkmess Crystals needed to unlock the next planet, Pristine Peaks.
The mission begins when you see a Spark flee into the depths of the Temple. Follow the Spark inside, taking 🐻note of the coins you can pick up on the way.
The Spark will fly across a river and head further inside the Temple — but you will find that you cannot cross since the water level is too low and the floating platform connecting the two sides of the river is too f🎀ar down to jump to.
Looking around you will see a narrow ravine that feeds the river, its flow blocked by some large, moveable bricks:
If you want to unblock the ravine and replenish the river, you'll need to drag the bricks in the following order:
- The first block closest to you goes to the left
- For the second pair, move the one on the right up and the one on the left to the right, just blow the second block you moved
- Move the next block to the left
- For the last two blocks, move the one on the right up, and move the final block to the right
This should raise the bridge and allow you to cross over. Now, continue following the Spark. You'll be led to a clearing, where you must first defeat the Darkmess Tentacle before battling the Giant Wildclaw.
It doesn't matter which Heroes you use to fight the tentacle — it helps to opt for a mix of ranged attacks and healing — but for the battle with Giant Wildclaw, you will have to choose two Heroes to battle alongside newcomer Edge. This means yes — you'll be playing as three Heroes on the battlefield for the first time.
To beat Wildclaw, it's best to keep your distance. Aft📖er you hit him, he will either move toward you or, if he's already close, h🍸e will attack you in retaliation during your turn:
Try situating one Hero at three separate points around the map, allowing you to push and pull Wildclaw between everyone so t🍰hat no one♉ character receives the brunt of his rage.
Using Edge's Blade Master weapon, Luigi's Sharpshooter bow, and Rabbid Peach's Triple Troll cannon, you'll b🍌e able to deal plenty of damage from a🐻 safe distance.

Your first port of call will be to Save Beacon Town, a battle that requires you to defeat a Darkmess Puddle and will unlock more areas of the town for you to access and complete side missions in.
Save Beacon Town is a relatively straightforward battle, mainly pitting you against Bob-ombs and similar low-health foes. After clearing this battle, you will be able to see and access the Lighthouse𒐪, which you'll note is tightly gripped by yet an𒅌other formidable Darkmess tentacle.
Once you get to the Lighthouse you will meet a new non-combat Spark called Twinkle. He will give Beep-O the ability to scan more items for information, but won't show up as a ⛄Spark to use in battle.
For the Flaming Stooges battle, equip Luigi, Rabbid Luigi, and Edge, since they each possess abilities to weaken foes whilst doing excellent ranged damage. Steer clear of the Burn attacks, and beware of how close you are to your fellow Heroes, since catching fire means you will run around and potentially set your teammates alight, too!
Next, carry on through the Lighthouse. You will have to complete a series of simple puzzles, the first being to throw a glowing egg at the yellow Darkmess eye blocking the base of the stairs.
It will dissolve to reveal a slot for a cube to be placed. Now, simply drag the nearby crate in an upside-down L-shape so that it covers the glowing blue button on the ground.
This will give you a cube to slot into the space in the Darkmess puddle, allowing you to progress up the stairs to the ♏next level.
You'll have to collect some coins and go into another battle with four enemies to defeat — three Bob-ombs and one Wildclaw. This shouldn't take too long if your team is balanced, as suggested in the earlier main quest.
Defeating them will earn you a health-replenishing Super Shroom.

Next, throw another glowing egg at the Darkmess Eye blocking your path, and then move the crate, retrieve the cube, and place it into the slot as before to progress to the final level.
Now you'll begin the main boss battle, and for this, you'll want to shoot down all of the Darkmess Tentacle Eyes.
Rabbid Luigi and Luigi are vital for this challenge, as Luigi's arrow deals devastating damage from afar and Rabbid Luigi's Discruptor can hit up to three eyeballs at once!
