The Mario series histꦇorically offers players the ability to 🎐use various powerups to aid them. While Super Mario Bros. initially started the convention, the amount of transformations Mario and his friends could use has since grown exponentially. These items change either his suit, or his cap, and allow him to use new abilities.
While some of these abilities fire projectiles, others are for flying or hov🥂ering. Yet all of them come with a charming design. While ไMario and his friends have used many amazing powerups, these are definitely some of the best out there!
10 ꧋ Hammer Suit
Debuting in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario Bros. 3, the r♒are Hammer Suit allowed Mario to throw hammers. Akin to a Hammer Bro, this allowed Mario's proj💞ectiles to fly upwards. Moreover, they could pass through walls and floors.
Unfortunately, the Hammer Suit has not appeared since its original debut. Rather, it's been replaced by the Boomerang Suit. This ability allows Mario to thr✤ow Boomerangs horizontally and has also bᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚeen used in recent Mario Kart titles.
9 Double Che💎rry
Originally appearing in Super Mario 3D World, the Double Cherry cloned the player. With multiple🦩 Double Cherries, the player could create up to four more clones. This aided with cert𓆉ain puzzles to obtain collectibles within certain stages.
The Double Cherry offered some of the most creative💦 stage elements in Super Mario 3D World. The theme, "Douꦐble Cherry Pass," was also composed by veteran composer, Koji Kondo. Perhaps the most interesting fact is that it was also created via a mistake from the developer.
8 ﷺ Cloud Flower
The Cloud Flower originally appears in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Featured in several stages, this ability gives👍 Mario a white cloud cap and changes his overall colors. In the games, he could create multiple cloud platforms.
Cloud Mario's ability became a blessing to players who needed that extra boost when falling or missing a platform. Unfortunately, this creative little design fꦡizzles the moment Mario touches water. Thankfully, players can find plenty m💃ore when they keep their heads in the clouds!
7 Metal Cap
The Metal Cap's initial appearance in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario 64 certainly stood out among the rest. While the Wing Cap and Vanishing Cap play the classic Invincibility theme, Metal Mario's the🏅me plays a remix. Plus it essentially replaced the invincible Sta♔r in the game.
Metal Mario can walk underwater which allows him to press switches and collect Stars. In Super Mario 64 DS, Wario can also wear the Metal Cap. This abil❀ity also appeared in Super Smash Bros. and Mario Party 2!
6 ꦜ Mega Mushroom
The Mega Mushroom 🅺made its grand debut in New Super Mario Bros. Much like an invincibility item, it comes with only the occas💎ional use. Thankfully, it could be pocketed and used anytime to include against bosses.
The Mega Mushroom grows the player to a gargantuan height and allows them to stomp through all obstacles and enemies in their pat♚h. The Mega Mushroom also appeared in Mario Kart Wii and Super🧜 Mario 3D World. Furthermore, the Invincible Star in Super Paper Mario also takes on a similar function and can even be used by an enemy.
5 🔥 Fire Flower 𒀰
Mario's classic, trust projectile item debuted in the original Super Mario Bros. Changing his colors to white and red, Mario could fire two fireballs at a time. They could be used to take out enemies from afar as well as underwater to take out 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Cheep-Cheeps and Bloopers.
While the Fire Flower appears in Smash Bros. as an item, it functions as a mobile flamethrower. However, Mario can use his Fireballs as a trusty projectile at any time without it. It also comes with a counterpart, the Ice Flower, which can freeze enemies as well as create platforms in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario Galaxy.
4 🐻 Winged Cap
While 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario 64 gave players the freedom to explore in 3D, the Wing Cap gave players the wings to soar through the skies. While flight had been done before in 2D Mario games, the Wing Cap brought with it a diಞfferent meaning. Featured on the cover art for Super Mario 64, this item became iconic with the game itself.
The Wing Cap granted freedom to the player to explore all around the stage. They could collect Red Coins or fly their shortcut to the Star. Plus for wary players, it allowed them to hover gently back to the stage to avoid a falling death.🧜 Also, Super Mario Galaxy featured a similar flight ability but it was woefully underused.
3 ಌ Cape Feather
One of the single most utility transformations initially debuted in Super Mario World. Appearing in the first level of Donut Plains, the Cape took on many purposes. For starters, similar to the Raccoon Suit in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario Bros. 3, it allowed Mario to attack and fly.
More specifically, Mario could fly without a meter and could continuously attack in rapid succession. The Cape also allowed Mario to destroy projectiles, create earthquakes, and even take a hit while flying and not lose his powerup.🃏 The Cape was so useful that it was implemented in the Smash Bros. titles. In Smash, Mario can no🅠t only reflect projectiles but can even reflect opponents, potentially forcing them to self-destruct when attempting to recover.
2 ℱ Super Bell
This iconic transformation initially appeared in Super Mario 3D World. Following suit - pun not intended — with the similar Ra🧸ccoon animal transformation theme, the Cat Suit gave Mario and co. a full-bodied feline costume. This allowed the player to claw at enemies and climb up walls.
This adorable ability made exploration enjoyable with its flexible movement and multitude of abilities. A later version appeared postgame which allowed the player to ⭕transform into an invincible Lucky Cat statue. Cat Mario and Cat Peach also both appear in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. For players who have yet to experience these transformations, it's worth keeping an eye out for the upcoming coming to Switch in February 2021!
1 Raccoon S♐uit/Tanooki Suit
Finally, perhaps the most creative ability that appeared in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario Bros. 3 allowed Mario to fly for the first time. The Raccoon Suit allowed Mario to 💙attack enemies with his tail and fly high into the skies. It also featured a variant, the P-Wing, which could grant i🍌nfinite flight.
The Tanooki Suit offered a versatile upgrade featuring a full-bodied raccoon suit as well as the ability to transform into an invincible statue. The Super Leaf appears in Mario Kart 7 and allows the player to tail-whip projectiles and other players. It also appears in the Smash Bros. series where the player's character will grow ears, a tail, and even float briefly in the air. Furthermore, both suits recently ma💃de appearances in Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario💮 Bros. 2, Super Mario 3D World, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. When one thinks of the Mario series' best transformations, these two are always among the first to come to mind!
