Marvel's Avengers' version of Spider-Man will have a self-contained story arc that wo🌠n't affect the rest of the game.

However, the addendum that Spidey will only be available on the PS4/PS5 versions of the game ruined that big reveal. Since Spidey's likeness in movies - and apparently video games too - is owned by Sony, then the web-slinger will be absent from the Xbox and PC rosters.

recently caught up with Avengers' creative director Shaun Escayg and combat director Vince Napoli. The pair shed a little light on how Spider-Man's inclusion in the PS version of the game is going to work. "He 💦will be in our story and will fit in that world, sort of in that gap, what ha🎀ppened [on] A-Day and between then and now," Escayg explained.
For anyone still unfamiliar with the story, the core team of Avengers in the game disband when they are blamed for an attack on San Francisco. The attack takes place on A-Day, a day created to celebrate the Avengers, and appears to b💞ring an end to Captain America's life. Escayg appears to be implying that Spider-Man's journey in-game will begin and end before that celebration-gone-awry ever happens.
When asked directly if Spider-Man's storyline in Avengers will be self-contained, Escayg replied "absolutely, yeah". Good to know, and really, how could it not be? The directors also shed a little light on how and why the web-slin𒊎ger was added at all. Apparently, Sony approached them after the fact and asked if it would be possible. By that point, the characters being used were already in place, so Spider-Man's inclusion will be nothing more than an added layer for PS players.
