After Sony announced that Spider-Man would be exclusive to the PS4 version of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Marvel's Avengers, many started to speculate that we'd see similar things happen with the remaining versions. Sadly, it seems Sony's quest to have the best possible version means that the other two-thirds will remain pointless. In an interview with Screen Rant, developer Crystal Dynamics confirmed that the Xbox One and PC ports of Avengers will not have exclusive characters or costumes.
When talking with studio head Scot Amos and designer Lauryn Ash, Screen Rant learned that the company has no plans for platform-exclusive characters outside of Spider-Man. That's a serious blow to the Xbox One and PC versions since they've effectively been kneecapped before release. If you have access to all platforms, you'd have to be stupid to grab Avengers on anything other than PS4.
Many may not see this as a bad move, but this tactic is similar to what Epic has been doing with its digital distribution platform. Instead of offering a competitive advantage over Steam, Epic is poaching games and holding the rights behind lock and key. With Avengers, Sony has effectively downgraded the Xbox One and PC versions to fake a sense ꦕof superiority on its platform.
Industry pundit Jim Sterling goes into this in far better detail than I can, but this is a scummy and underhanded method of ensuring🧜 players flock to your platform above the others. Instead of relying on first-party games to entice customers, Sony is taking to devaluing the other ports and ensuring players without the option are getting an inferior product.
As third-parties continue to embrace multi-plat🃏form development, this is a trend we're likely going to see more of in the future. It'll become a serious issue once cross-play is fully embraced, but for 𒆙now, it's the only real method Sony has for getting players to stick to its platform. If you can't offer the best version from simply the power of your console, cut content out of the other ports to bolster your own.
That doesn't mean it sucks any less. Sony really shouldn't be 𓄧resorting to petty tactics like this.
