Before we dive into some of the background details of how Venom came to be in the game, let's first discuss the screenshot showing his design, which is suitably gooey, scary, and full of teeth. He's pretty much how you expect Venom to look, but props to Insomniac for making him look like a big muscley ball of goo.[EMBED_TWITTER]//twitter.com/EW/status/1681696152935186433[/EMBED_TWITTER]Sadly, that one image of Venom is all we get to see from the Entertainment Weekly article, but some more details were thankfully revealed in the article that go into the creation of the character and the work that Tony Todd put into his performance. Bryan Intihar, senior creative director at Insomniac Games, said that casting Venom was one of the things that the team avoided doing for as long as possible because they knew it was going to be such an important thing for the game.[EMBED_TWITTER]//twitter.com/insomniacgames/status/1681697393857957888[/EMBED_TWITTER]Intihar also said that he was interested in Todd doing the voice after hearing him in Candyman and that he had actually already submitted an audition tape, one which was obviously successful. Intihar said, "Everything we talked about (with) Venom - that sense of strength, that sense of fear, that sense of overwhelming, so different from Peter - Tony embraces that completely in the performance".On the look that Insomniac has chosen for Venom and how it was decided, senior art director Jacinda Chew says, "One of the challenges we had throughout production was, how much does (Venom) talk? I remember we did some concepts early on (of) does Venom have lips? Does he laugh? Does he smile? Does he frown? It's a fine line between making this creature scary and intimidating, but then also, I guess, relatable."
