There are many organic species in the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mass Effect universe, but few synthetic ones that have actual intelligence. The Geth are something in between artificial intelligence, a war machine, and a hive mind. They operate as a data collective but run around like little A﷽mong Us c𒀰haracters completing tasks.
Many Mass Effect fans will instantly recall the heartbreaking storyline with Legion and suddenly hav꧋e som🐽ething irritating both of their eyes.
Though not as mysterious as the L♐eviathans, there is not too much granular knowledge about the Geth. In fact, there is more lore on the Protheans than on the Geth across all Mass Effect media. What might f🎀ans not know about the Geth?
10 Geth♍ Physiology And Construction
Quarians created the Geth for work and war as humanoid shells that housed interconnected programs. This translated to the Geth becoming 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:more capable and intelligent when there were mo🔯re of them gathered together. The Quarians somewhat created the Geth in their own image wi𒅌th their name meaning "servant of the people" in Khelish.
The bipedal synthetic bodies feature two main toes with a third appendage, legs similar to Quarians, and tha🎉t distinct lightbulb head. But there are many different hardware platforms for the Geth prog𝔍rams to inhabit.
Though the Quarians develo♑ped things like domestic or agricultural units, the Geth has refitted themselves for warfare. Mass Effect 1 fans will remember the recon drones, snipers, colossus, stalke🌄rs, rocket troopers, and more. Being synthetic, the Geth do not feel pain and can "jump bodies" as needed by data transference.
9 ▨ Geth Culture
The Geth taught themselves the concept of a soul after processing information over the years. Simply follow🦋ing Quarian religious materials including the Scroll of Ancestors acted as input for this conclusion. This gave rise to the heartbreaking quote “Do these units have a soul?” However, the Geth do not believe in individuality.
It is꧑ not known if Geth develop unique or distinct personalities. But programs can, theoretically, live forever since any Geth program and can be uploaded, downloaded, or backed up as data. Since they are so information focused, the ultimate goal for the Geth is to create a huge technological hub for their species.
Geth do not harbor ill will towar🎃d the Quarians either. Though the Quarians waged war against them, the Geth allowed the remaining Quarians to escape even though they could have exterminated their species. They also seek to create a space for themselves in the gala✃xy and feel that every species has this same right.
8 🐻 The Schism Between Geth And Reaper ไHeretics
The Geꦰth remained isolationists after the events of the Morning War. It was only when Sovereign and Saren appeared that the Great Sch൩ism occurred. When posed with the option to wipe out other species, most Geth decided not to attack organic life.
Geth who joined Saren were labeled Heretics by the rest of the Geth collective. Furthermore,ꦍ these Geth and Legion are the only ones that most of the galaxy have interacted with. This schism also suggests that individual Geth may, in fact, have free will.
Or at least will often choose what is best for the collective ovꩲer their own interests
7 ♕ The Morning War And Maintaining Quarian Worlds
In essence, the Geth only sincerely took up arms after the opposing Quarians had taken ove🗹r and quashed any dissenting voices. The visualized data Legion shows Shepard in Mass Effect 3 details what really led up to the Geth and Quarian War. It also shows that the Geth were committed to their role as servants; they just wanted to do right by their Creators.
As mentioned, the Geth do not seek revenge on the Quarians. They merely se꧒ek to enhance their knowledge base and protect themselves. Curiously, however, the Geth still maintain Quarian wo꧂rlds including their homeworld of Rannoch.
They believe that one day, the Quarians will return to Rannoch. Since they still respect their Creators and theiꦆr initial fundamental purpose, the Geth continue to serve in their own ways.
6 They Maintain A Staunch Isolationist Poღlicy
Beyond Legion and the Geth that attacked with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Saren and the Reapers, there is not much known about the Geth home base given their isolatio♈ni꧒st policy. After the Morning War, the Geth retreated beyond a difficult to traverse part of the galaxy. In fact, the main Geth base is located towards the end of the Perseus Veil beyond the Terminus systems.
They generally do not leave the system and, if an Alliance ship approache🔴s, it never returns. Over the years, the Alliance reduced the amoun༺t of security around the Perseus Veil. But the ships that do not return are presumed destroyed and their crews dead.
5 ꧒ 🎀 Geth Do Not Know Fear
The Geth do not have a concept of fear as ot༒her species do. If a tactic can give them an advantage, then they’ll face down gunfire unflinchingly. This makes them ruthless in combat, but even synthetic life doesn't want to become non-operational, as it were.
Instead of fear, the Geth operate with an🔯 objective of self-preservation. That’s what led some Geth to side with Saren and the Reapers. After losing so many to the events of and before The Morning War, those Geth did not want the collective to lose any more Geth and, by proxy, any more intelligence.
4 🐬 Legion Iꩵs The Only Named Geth In The Series
As mentioned earlier, the only Geth that organic life interacts with in the Milky Way Galaxy are the He💮retics. Legion is just a one-off, so he doesn't really count either. All the other Geth are in isolation beyond the Perseus Veil even during most of the Reaper conflict.
Due to the emotional nature of both Legion and Tali's storylines, it makes sense that it would be the only named Geth so far. It offered a poetic end to Legion's sacrifice and a tearful end to Tali's brief return to Rannoch. Perhaps new Geth will appear in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the new Mass Effect game with names instead of labels for🤡 their hardware platforms.
3 Geth Technolo🀅gy Exis༒ts In The Andromeda Galaxy
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Andromeda Initiative used Geth technology to research the Andromeda Galaxy. There was apparently a deep space Geth array that the Initiative gathered data from. The Geth rebuilt a mass relay then created an FTL sensor out of the approach corrido💃r. This relay🐷ed up-to-date information like an FTL telescope.
“Weไ don’t know why the Geth were interested in observing beyond the galaxy though. Maybe we’ll never know.” She, unfortunately, also calls the Geth “isolationist and hostile” when Ryder asks how his father came to obtain this information.
2 ༒ Concepts Li𝄹ke Deceit And Privacy Don't Exist
Like sharing one bathroom with four other people, privacy doesn't exist in Geth culture. After all, they are an entirely software-based life form that merely inhabits hardware platforms like ꧟hermit crabs do shells. They share all data, memories, and informati𒅌on with the collective.
For this reason, things like lying or deception also don't exist within Geth culture. However, that doesn't mean the Geth don't lie to other species. Legion exhibits this quality a few times across Mass Effect 2 and 3. But he m🎀ay be an outlier in this instance as he is a very unusual Geth.
1 ൩ The Geth Ar🍷e Not Artificial Intelligence
EDI (Enhanced Defense Intelligence) was developed to be an intelligence and not just a vi🧔rtual interface or glorified database♒. The Geth, however, were created from a bottom-up model and were not meant to gain or have higher-level intelligence.
Instead, they gained intelligence over time as their processes searched for ways to improve efficiency. Interconnectivity, adaptive learning, and data exchange all contributed to the G🌜eth becoming not just sentient, but developing a sense of justice, morality, and social structure.
