Not every player has the patience to slog through every single side quest before the game is over. Lots of people love to check off every box for those sweet, sweet hits of dopamine, but if you're eager to get to the finalé right away, BioWare is (mostly) prepared for you.
In Mass Effect 2 and 3, after the end credits roll, players are booted back to a save point before the final mission(s). Unfortunately, Mass Effect 1 is an outlier; the game doesn't spin back time automatically, so players will need to manually choose a save file before the ending. Since it's been a common complaint for years, it's surprising that BioWare didn't make this simple adjustment in the remaster.
