Every 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mass Effect fan knows a few specific facts about the Protheans. Number 1: they helped culti🌃vate certain species including humans. Number 2: after th🐠e rest of them were wiped out, the indoctrinated members were modified into the Collectors. Number 3: Javik is an ornery fella.
Moreover, current species thought the Protheans created the Mass Relays. Javik, in Mass Effe💦ct 3, reveals the truth of it: the Protheans merely augmented technology they found.
While Bioware is working on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dragon Age 4, the studio also announced that the Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster will 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:release in Spring 2021. As fans eagerly await this release, many are 168澳洲幸运5开奖网𓂃:revisiting the original trilogy right no🃏w. This brings up long-standing queꦛstions about the lore including questions about the enigmatic Protheans.
What are the secrets behind the race that🧔 almꦐost outsmarted the Reapers?
10 P✃rothean Physiology Lets Them Absorb Memory By Touch
Protheans have two toes per foot and three digits to each hand. Their ﷽four eyes have dual pupils and they have three nostrils though the reason why is unknown. The species also has a hard shell atop their heads that looks 🀅a bit insectoid.
However, Protheans have curious genetic features. Unlike humans and other organisms, Protheans have quad-strand DNA instead of a double helix. 🌠The species can also touch someone and instantly learn languages and absorb memories. Whether or not these two things are connected remains a mystery.
But it also seems that the Protheans were able to impart this into their technology given the existence of Proth๊ean Beacons.
9 Prothean Culture Is More Than 70,000 Years Old𒆙
At the time of the events of the first Mass Effect game, the Protheans had already been long dead. But many of their technologies still exist and even operate fully in the current timeline. One such item, an interstellar communications tech, was dated to be more than 70,000 years old. 🃏Fans estimate that Protheans thus had space flight before 68,000 B.C.
The species followed their “Cosmic Imperative” doctrine that advocated letting the weak perish in the wake of the strong. That’s why thཧey never saw an issue with enslaving other species. By their doctrine, they had earned the “right to rule” by being the most robust species.
But, for what it’s worth, they also had staring contests t♎o pass the time. Confusingly, however, females could also initiate romantic interest in this manner𒆙.
8 🎐 The Prothea🎐ns “Collected” And Absorbed Other Species
Prothean culture in concern to other species can best be described as "space imperialists". They would cur🥀b stomp another species and then "offer" them the opportunity to become subjugates of Prothean rule. If the species refused, they would be enslaved or worse. But for more developing species, Protheans would observe and rarely interfere.
Unfortunately, the Protheans also had a habit of eating species like Salarians and Hanar. Javik confirms this in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Citadel DLC while also confirming that෴ the Protheans “dated” Asari.
7 The Proth﷽eans Likely Learned About Mass Effect Relays From The Inusannon
Though the Protheans had a penchaౠnt for reverse engineering, it is commonly known that they learned from other technologies left by the Inusannon. Like every other species in the Milky Way Galaxy, the Reapers wiped out the Inusannon, as well. But the Reapers leveraged their technology to expand their own empire. The race dominated space more than 127,000 years ago.
Not much is known about their culture apart from a conflict with the Thoi’han race to colonize the planet Eingana. The Inusannon also inhabited Ilos a𝓀t some point. Some fans suggest that the statues discovered on Ilos are remnants of the Inusannon. Others believe Ilos to be entirely Prothean in creation.
Since Protheans dominated and absorbed other species, it c𝕴ould also be a differeℱnt species that called themselves Prothean.
6 They Reverse Engineered A Mass Relay ღAnd Created A Miniature One on Ilos
The scientific facility fans can explore in Mass Effect 1 is located on Ilos. It has a bunch of ominous statues everywhere, as well a♋s some stasis pods. But the biggest shock came in the form of a small version of a Mass Relay known as The Conduit. Moreover: it was entirely operable.
Not only did the Protheans reverse engineer mass effect technology, but they were also able to create a𓂃 new one. Even if it was not big enough to transport ships, this is the closest any species has come to replicating the technology of the Leviathans.
5 Their M🦋ilitary Used Mainly Biotics and Beam Weaponry
Fans saw in Mass Effect 3 that Javik is a very capable Biotic. His unique abilities channel biotic energy in ways not even the most powerful Biotics in the modern era can. This is likel𝓰y due to how important Biotics were within the Prothean military.
Flashbacks with Javik and the AI Vigil show fans a bit more about Prothean military strategy. For instance, their warfare often involved beam weaponry. This probably came about due, in part, to their prolonged 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:conflict against the Reapers. If a s💦quad was caught out or isolated for some time, they wouldn’t be able to resupply for things like ammo🌠.
But with beam wea𓆉ponry, there is no need for ammo.
4 🙈 Th🃏e Protheans Used The Citadel Also
﷽As many Mass Effect fans know, the Reapers set up the Citadel as a trap. They wanted various species to use it as a governing body to better facilitate the genocide cycle. The Protheans fell into this trap as well, using the Citadel as a seat of government. They al🅠so used the station to monitor all of the various species they had enslaved or taken over.
Apart from that, the Protheans also moved the Citadel closer to where they found the plans for the Crucible near Ifor or Totau IV. Originally developed by the Rakfeeli, the Protheans got further than any other species in developing the Crucible. Their work made it possible for Shepard to be given the choice of De✤stroy, Control, or Aꦦssimilate.
How𒐪ever, it seems that the Reapers moved the Citadel back to it𒅌s original location after the cycle began anew.
3 The Protheans Severed The Reapers’ Connection To The Cit🅘adel
That same scientific research communit📖y on Ilos did more than just create a miniature relay. Afte🍒r they confirmed that a large-scale attack was occurring, the staff went into stasis and went dark to protect the facility. After the attack was over, the crew used the mass relay to travel to the Citadel.
From there, the remaining Protheans cut the connection between Keepers and the Reapers. This meant that the Keepers could not automatically activate the Deep Space travel the Reapers needed for their surprise invasions. Essentially, those Protheans gave the species in the next round of the Reaper cycle a fighting c𒊎hance.
2 The Protheans Interfered With Asari Culture And Develop🃏ment 🌠
Though uncommon with other primitive cultures, the Protheans felt the need to directly influence the Asari. Not♑ only did they give them technologies outright, but they also influenced Asari culture through religion. Using the goddess Athame, the Protheans were able to shape Asari culture and even genetically manipulate them in order to foster biotic abilities.
But the Protheans also defended the Asari homeworld of Thessia, too.🅘 A species known as the Oravores attacked Thessia in order to take control of the planet’s resources. Within Asari culture, this war became mythologized as the moment when Athame “wielded her sword agai🌃nst jealous gods who threatened the Asari.”
The reveal is an extremely emotional moment 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:for Liara if the player chooses to bring her to Thessia.
1 The Protheans Supernova’d The Home Plan꧂et Of Another Race
Mass Effect fans are no strangers to having to blow up planets, unfortunately. But in the case of the Protheans, this was murder and not sacrifice... kind of. It relates to the Cosmic Imperative which the Protheans developed after som🃏ething known as the Metacon War. During the war, the Protheans faced off against a supremely powerful machine race and barely won. That’s why they developed the Cosmic Imperative in the first place.
Enter a species known as the Zha. These gu🃏ys created symbiotic AIs called Zha’til in order to keep themselves alive. Unfortunately, the Reapers subjugated those AIs and had them create dangerous mechanical swarms. As a result, the Protheans decided to make the star in the Zha’s system go supernova.
But the Protheans didn’t do this for fun or by chance. Without making this tough decision, the Reapers would have been able to wipe out all developed life in the gal💧axy earlier than they eventually did.
