The Milky Way is a truly enormous place to explore. That's as true today as it is in the futuristic world of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mass Effect - even if the stars are a little bit closer at hand then than they are now. Even in the 2100s, when the games are set, less than 1% of the galaxy's𝐆 stars♏ have been investigated.
You may have heard the term "Citadel Space" before. It gets thrown around a lot over the course of the games but isn't totally clarified. As it turns out, it's even vague within the lore. Codex entries detail how the concept of "Citadel Space" has been thrown around but never truly defined by the Council or any other group. But then... how is the Milky Way divided?
5 ღ Inner Council Space
Inner Council Space is the region of the Milky Way controlled by the Citadel Council. It's where the Citadel is located (though this information is contradicted since some mapౠs do show it in Outer Council Space instead) and where the Council fleets patrol.
Many of the homeworlds of important Citadel races are in Inner Council Space including 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Turians', th෴e Salarians', the Hanar's, and the Volus'. This made it especially intimidating when the K📖rogan, whose homeworld of Tuchanka is also in Inner Council Space, began to rise up against them.
4 Out⭕er Council🅰 Space
Outer Council Space is also controlled by the Citadel Council, but it's largely Asari-controlled space. The Asari homeworld is in this region of the M𝔍ilky Way, so many of the habitable planets there hold Asari colonies. If Asari ever left the Council, they'd likely be able to retain control over much of this region of the galaxy. The Elcor homeworld is also within Outer Council Space, making them a valuable trading partne🍌r for the Asari.
Additionally, many Asari ships are dedicated to patrolling this region. Mass relays that lead to the Terminus Systems exist within Outer Council Space, so it's the perfect place for smugglers and other seedy ships to slip through. The dedication of the Asari ensures that many of these no-🎃good ships never even enter Inner Council Space.
3 🍃 Earth Systems Allianceജ Space
The "Earth Systems Alliance Space" region of the Milky Way includes, as one would suspect, the star Sol and the human homeworld of Ear🦄th. Ever since huma🦹nity discovered their nearest Mass Relay, the Charon Relay. They became capable of exploring the galaxy, they have been pushing out to colonize other planets.
This aggressive behaviour is what led such a vast part of the galaxy to be named after them, but it's a tad misleading. The Batarians also live in this region of space on their homeworld: Khar'shan. Indeed, Batarians have often been outraged a✅t humanity's co🦄lonization efforts and the tw🐓o species have become antagonistiꦐc toward one another.
Since humanity is a Council-allied race (and, eventually, a member race of the Council), it could be considered to be Citadel space - or, at least, Citadel friendly space. However, humans would undoubtedly not look ⛦kindly to their control over these systems being hijacked by a foreign species.
2 ๊ Attican Traverse 𝓡
The Attican Traverse is a region that the Citadel is actively trying to develop into - officially, it's been claimed as Council Space. There's passionate interest here because of evidence that 168澳洲幸运💃5开奖网:Protheans used 𒊎to inhabit these planets an♚d there's an abundance of Mass Relay𒐪s in the systems.
However, groups from the Terminus Systems are actively raiding, attacking, and pillaging colonies within the Traverse. These groups even occasionally claim planets or regions as their own, so the Council has opted for a policy of "non-in🐬terference" in the Attican Traverse.
When the Alliance (humanity's military) tries to advance into the Traverse and establish colonies, however, the Council usually offers no objections. That's because the human militar𝓀y has generally shown itself to be capable of handling the explosive situations that may arise (plus, it's a litt💝le less work the Council needs to do itself).
1 Terminus Sy♓stems
The Terminus Systems are the seedy side of the galaxy. Though there are colonies in the Terminus Systems created by Council races - including Asari, Humans, Turians, Salarians, and Elcor (among others) - they can receive n🍨o support from their interplanetary government.
Most of the species in the Terminus Systems are non-Council races, though. These race🍸s have opted not to adhere to the Citadel Conventions (rules for armed conflict) or acknowledge the authority of the Council over their people. As a result, wars between planets and groups are common and morally questionable activities (like smuggling) prosper.
The Quarian homeworld is in this region, too, but Quarians haven't lived on it since they were almost driven to extinction. Most of the Geth reside there now, wait⛎ing (according to Legion) for the Quarians to return.
