Mods are a big draw for PC gamers. Being able to modify your favorite game to be just the way you like it is something that PC games have enjoyed for 🌌years, and it’s a big reason why so many PC gamers are such big fans of Steam.
Steam makes it easy to install and manage mods, and now that same ease-of-use is coming to the Epic Games Store. In July, Epic announced that they’d🍌 be roll༒ing out mod support to certain games and naming 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries as the first one൩. MechWarrior 5 has a vibrant and active mod community over on Nexus Mods, but those mods required users to hav♋e some rudimentary knowledge of game files in order to know where to place those mods. Epic’s mod system allows users to just click on what mods they want to add to their library and then select which mods they want active in the game.
Since MechWarrior 5 is the guinea pig for Epic꧋’s little mod experiment, knowing how mods work here will reveal how they’ll likely work on other games in the Epic Games Store. Plus, we’ve got a few recommendations on what mods will improve your MechWarrior 5🎀 experience.
Getting Mods On Epic
Epic doesn’t make finding꧒ mods too hard. Just go to your library, click the three little dots beside your copy of MechWarrior 5, and then click “Explore Mods.” This will bring you to to see what’s up.
To select a mod to install, just click on the mod and then select “Add to Library” just like you would when making a purchase on the Epic Games Store. All the mods are free, so don’t worry about spending money. Once the mod has ꦏbeen added to your library, head back to MechWarrior 5’s menu and then select “Manage Mods.” Here you can toggle on and off any mods you want to use in your game.
MechWarrior 5 has one extra step where you’ll have to activate the mod using the in-game menu and also restart the client. This migh🅷t just be a quirk ofꦿ MechWarrior 5 and not something to expect when other Epic games get mod support.
So what mods should you use for MechWarrior 5? Glad y🔴ou asked. Here’s my re๊commendations.
Mods To Fix Bugs
There are two mods that are absolute must-haves right now since they fix known bugs t𒁃hat the developer just hasn't gotten around to fixing yet. First is the which fixed an error in the way weapons fire sounds are cleared from memory. Without it, a memory leak can cause performance degradation and serious frame rate loss. This is a known bug that Piranha Games intends to fix with an upcoming update, but we don't know when that update will be, so use this for now.
The other mod is the , which allows most of ✨MechWarrior 5's mechs to actually appear in🌳-game and not just in the quick-play menu. This is also a known bug that will also be fixed later on.
Mods To Improve Graphics
The or are absolutely essential. Both allow you to customize your HUD's color and add aౠn advanced zoom function that really lets you line up your sniper shots. The two mods conflict, so you can't have both--just pick the version you prefer.
The will give MechWarrior🌱 5 more realistic and varied weather conditions, while improves the game's weapons fire and explosions. These aren’t strictly necessary mods, but they make the game prettier without requiring too much in terms of system resources, and that’s always a good thing.
Mods That Improve Overall Gameplay
MechWarrior 5's friendly and enemy AI is sort of... well, dumb. Friendly mechs will walk through and destroy buildings yꦡou're supposed to defend, while enemy mechs will just charge straight at you regardless of how many missiles and cannon rounds you pound into them. The and fix the AI to be a little less braindead.
does as advertised by removing the inexplicab💟ly lengthy and repetitive Jumpship animation that plays whenever you travel between worlds. This vastly improves the game's pacing and will help you get to the fun shooting parts a lot faster.
Since we've got a lot of mods installed already, we'd better also grab the . This mod does some complicated💛🌸 stuff behind the scenes so that having a bunch of mods installed at once doesn't break the game.
A Mod That Overhauls The Whole Dang Game
If you've already played through MechWarrior 5 and are looking for something radically different, or if you're a MechWarrior veteran demanding more than what MechWarrior 5 provides, the♈n is the overhaul mod for you.
This massive overhaul changes many of MechWarrior 5's core systems, starting with mech customization. The basic MechBay is replaced by one that better resembles the tabletop rules and previous MechWarrior games. It also ▨adds a ton of new weapons and equipment and even l🦄ets you mess around with a mech's engine rating.
Mercs Reloaded also adds 170 new mechs, rescales the volume of existing mechs, and updates the game's visuals with many of the improvements listed in previous mods in🐬 this article.
It's recommended that𓆏 you start a fresh campaign after installing Mercs Reloaded as the mod's description warns of possible save file corruption issues if you were to install this mod mid-way through a campaign. Also, thi𓃲s mod is NOT for those who dislike complicated menus, so keep that in mind.
A non-Epic Honorable Mention
There's one mod that needs to be mentioned, even though it's not on the Epic Games Store as of yet. Many players will find MechWarrior 5 to be quite challenging thanks to many missions featuring a highly aggressive spawn rate of enemy units. They appear with such frequency tha✃t it can turn many missions into a frantic battle of attrition, where slower mechs can't meet the mission objectives and escape before they're completely overwhe𓂃lmed.
The , available over on Nexus Mods, is 22kb that completely changes the tenor of MechWarrior 5 to be a lot more palatable. It requireꦍs the old way of installing things manually, but it's highly recommended if you find MechWarrior 5's ra𝔍ndom missions to be overly difficult.
