Ishihara revealed that Mega Evolution will soon have a place in the AR game. A short teaser played which didn't show off how Mega Evolutions will look in Pokémon GO, but it did feature a Key Stone. T🌠he Key Stone is what trainers need for a Mega Evolution to happen, while the corresponding Pokémon will need to๊ have a Mega Stone in its possession at the same time.

For Pokémon fans unfamiliar with what exactly Mega Evolution is, it's a form certain Pokémon can take during battle, and only during battle. Once the Pokémon faints, or the battle ends, it will return to its regular form. If a trainer switches be♌tween Pokémon, the Mega Evolved Pokémon will remain in its Mega Evolvౠed form until the battle is over. The feature was included for the first time in Gen VI.

Not all Pokémon have Mega Evolutions. Only 46 at this point, and it's unclear how any of them will look in Pokémon GO, or how the mechanic will be utilized. Pokémon GO is obviously very different from any other game in the mainstream Pokémon series. Ishihara has promised that it will be a new take on the feature that takes advantage of Pokémon GO's unique gameplay. There is no word yet on when Mega Evolution will debut in Pokémon GO.
