Super Jumping, also known as High Jumping, is a feature in most fighting games that allow you to get closer or further away from your opponent. To perform a Super Jump, press down and then up left/right depending on the direction you want to go. While your vertical height is the same, you cover much more ground horizontally, allowing you to ge🅷t out of ♏sticky situations or close the gap on the enemy.

However, in Melty Blood: Type Lumina, another twist is implemented in an otherwise universal feature. When airborne, you are allowed to quickly input the Super Jump command to soar horizontally across the stage to catch your opponent off guard, allowing you to take full advantage of the game's fluid movement and focus on fast-paced action.

The abilit♏y to Shield incoming attacks is a new feature in Melty Blood: Type Lumina and adds a whole other layer of chaos into the fast-paced action. The Shield command is assigned to its input, setting it up for many additional attacks that can potentially lead to big combos.

After successfully shielding an incoming attack, you will have three options that lead to a direct counterattack. Your weak attack (A) launches you into your character's 3C attack, allowing you to combo off of it. Your medium attack (B) launches your character into a teleporting jumping attack that sends your opponent bouncing off the ground, allowing you to continue with a combo. And, finally, if you input BC (Moon Drive), you will spend some of your Moon Gauge to jump past your opponent to create great separation, getting you out of an otherwise dangerous situation.

Don't Shy Away From Auto-Combos

Auto-Combos, or Rapid Beats, is another new mechanic implemented into the Melty Blood franchise in Type Lumina, allowing newcomers to unleash stylish and crazy combos by pressing the same button rapidly. However, this isn't necessarily bad or limited to beginners, as it fits nicely into the game's pacing.

Performing a Rapid Beat is done by pressing the same button twice in a row in any combo string. For example, if you were performing one of the Gatling Attacks mentioned earlier, you would launch into an Auto-Combo by pressing the last input of your Gatling Attack immediately after landing it. However, a simplified version of a Rapid Beat attack is by pressing any attack button twice in quick succession, automatically launching the opponent into the air. You can continue the Rapid Beat when the enemy goes into the air by pressing the same button or breakout aerial combos here.

While it🃏 may seem like a system made for newbies, which it primarily is, there are many ways to include Rapid Beats into your combos or setups that open the door🍨 for playstyles of all sorts. Melty Blood: Type Lumina, unlike most fighting games out there, changes a few things in-between rounds that you must be aware of when first starting. Like some games, Type Lumina allows you to carry over your Magic Circuit (Meter) between rounds, allowing you to save it to gain a strategical advantage over your opponent. However, you may not have noticed that whoever lost the previous round will increase their Magic Circuit bar from three to four.

Having four Magic Circuit bars lets you perform your "Last Arc" attack, a devastating barrage of attacks that deal with significant damage to the opponent. While only available upon losing a round, it is still something to be mindful of even when you win a round, as you do not want your opponent to unleash their ღLa☂st Arc on you!
