Konami released a sequel based on Metal Gear Solid V, Metal Gear Survive, much to the chagrin of fans. Did that flop truly ruin any chances for a sequel? Popular franchises never truly die and while Metal Gear’s future is unknown, there are still secrets about its past eꦜntries worth exploring. Let’s take a look at what could have been.

10 Metal Gear Solid: Early Concepts

The for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metal Gear Solid featured similar ideas that would make it into the game. However, it was all CG. Whether these renders were made for the trailer or were the goal of the final game’s design is unknown. Another aspect that is better documented, from other trailers and demo gameplay, is the fact that the game would have featured multiple camera angles. This would not be reused as an idea until Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.

9 Metal Gear Solid: Snake And Meryl

On the subject of other for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metal Gear Solid, there were two scenes, in two separate trailers wherein Snake and Meryl fought bꦦack to back. One was in the office where players fought Psycho Mantis and the other was on top of the Communication Tower. This might have acted like tower defense missions in the game which was ultimately paired down to one grouping with Meryl. Another aspect cut seen through many early trailers was Snake planting C4 in and then running away from an explosion.

8 Metal Gear Solid 2: Plot Changes

The original plot was going to feature inspecting weapons in Iraq which would have presumably led to the discovery of nukes and a new 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metal Gear. Because that was hitting too close to home, it was taken out to focus on the New York invasion. Speaking of, another aspect cut out due to poor realistic t🎐iming was 9/11. Arsenal Gear was going to crash into Manhattan as well as take down the Sta꧟tue of Liberty. This information, and much, much more, can be found in this design document by Hideo Kojima himself.

7 Metal Gear Solid 2: Character Cuts

Before moving away from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metal Gear Solid 2, let’s quickly discuss some cut characters and changes. First of all, there were two planned bosses, Chinaman and Old Man. Chinaman basically turned into the Vamp fight and Old Man was later reused for creating The End and The Boss in Metal Gear Solid 3. Early sketches show Vamp as a female 👍to♍o. Lastly, Raiden would have had more support characters via the codec including Max, who would save the game, and Doc, who would talk about marine life.

6 Metal Gear Solid 4: Big Mama’s Escort Mission

Based on found in the game’s code, it appears Old Snake would have escorted Big Mama at some point. The audio files can be heard here with Otacon talking to Snake about some planned interactions. The audio clips are strung together in other words. Metal Gear Solid 4 infamously took🀅 upꩵ the entire disc space on the PS3 so many aspects had to get cut.

5 Metal Gear Solid 4: A Bigger Shadow Moses

Some more clipped together suggest the return trip t✤o Shadow Moses was going to be bigger. In these clips, Otacon talks about the ladies room where Snake first meets Meryl and Snake reminisces abou♉t it.

Psycho Mantis’ room and the dog caves w♈ere also mention♈ed. Again, the game was crammed enough already so recreating the entirety of the facility would have been challenging.

4 Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker: Manga Style

Early screenshots of Peace Walker show a more manga like approach to the design. The art was still realistic but gunshots would have added comic styled effects like “bam.” However, the game might have actually featured a cel-shaded look, as well as Snake from Metal Gear Acid 2, appears in the game’s code. This presumably was only meant to test the game’s engine, but who knows. Metal Gear Solid 2 was also almost cel-shaded.

3 Metal Gear Solid V: Episode 51

Metal Gear Solid V has an infamous amount of data left on the cutting room floor. Due to disagreements between Kojima and Konami, tꦇhe game remains unfinished with Kojima leaving the company. Anyway, on the that came with the special edition, there is a rough cut of Episode 51. This would have seen Snake go after Eli and the other child soldiers who took off from Mother Base with the Metal Gear.

2 Metal Gear Solid V: Battle Gear

Speaking of Metal Gears, th𝕴e Boss’ smaller experiment, Battle Gear, was meant to be playable. There is proof found within in the game’s code.

D-Walker is pretty cool, but it would have been better🧸 to be able to control a full-on Metal Gear mech. As it stands now, Battle Gear is just a mission weapon for subordinates.

1 Metal Gear Solid V: Bridging The Gap

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN_20150914015229

This is more of a theory than an actual piece of cut content. Based on the ending of the game it would suggest Kojima might have wanted to remake the original Metal Gear. Either that or he wanted to make another game that actually s✤howed the downfall of either Big Boss ✨or Venom Snake. They still seem like good guys in the end making the turn in the original not make sense still. Either way, it is clear he had more to say whether it was through DLC or more games.
