The messy and often complicated timeline of the games is at its highest level of confusion between the second and fourth iterations. While Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990) takes place in the ‘90s and follows events historically, i.e. The Cold War, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001) is set in 2007 t𒁃hrough 20﷽09, and envisions an alternate reality where The Cold War never ended.
Though Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is commonly accepted as the game in reference to the sequel, some information prior to an♐ alternate reality of 2007-2009 iꦕs vital to make parts of the AR make sense.
10 1991 - We Stay Chilly ꦫ 𝓀
The Cold War fa🔯ils to end in the Metal Gear series. This changes critical relationships and alliances between characters such as Solid Snake, Ocelot, and GRU Colonel Sergei Gurlukovich.
This alternate reality, much affected by t🎉he Butterfly Effect, also sees Colonel Gurlukovich with a daughter, Olga, who should be born somewhere in this timeframe. Gurlukovich’s ultimate goals, however, remain the same: restore Russia to glory through his Gurlukovich Mercenaries, created in 1🦩991 after the end of The Cold War, or in the AR as a desire to retain dominance in the ‘90s.
9 2006 - Solid Sn🃏ake And Philanthropy
Along with Otacon (Hal Emmerich), Solid Snake forms the n🌳on-government associated group called Philanthropy with the express goal of ridding tܫhe world of Metal Gears and preventing their further development.
Abolishing Metal Gears would limit the risk of nuclear war, though Solid Snake’s attitude towards them is ironic since he’s one of three clᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚones of Big Boss, who in other games encountered and benefited from the threat of Metal Gears.
8 2007 - Metal Gear RAY ♏
One of the fir♌st missions Solid Snake is tasked with under the Philanthropy group is to seek out evidence of a new Metal Gear. Otacon’s step-sister, Emma Emmerich, provided intelligence about the existence of Metal Gear RAY being transported through the US by tanker.
Once he gets to the tanker, Solid Snake finds it has been taken over by a Russian militant group formed in 1991-𝔉 Gurlukovich🧸 Mercenaries, led by Sergei and his pregnant daughter, Olga, whom Solid Snake fights.
7 🌟 2007 - Who 🌱Is The Traitor?
Solid Snake 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:successfully defeats the pregnant Olga but is then seen by a US drone that is then used as evidence he was behind the attack of the tanker. While the US Marines plan their siege of the tanker, and therefor♑e Solid Snake, he’s inside the tanker taking the pictures Philanthropy needs of Metal Gear RAY.
Ocelot appears outside with the US Marines, declaring his intent to take the Metal Gear with him, while Sergei reemerges to take the commander of the Marines — Scott Dolph — 🎉as a hostage.
6 2007 - S☂py VS Spy
Ocelot is revealed to be working wi🥃th the Patriots, Sergei Gu🦩rlukovich announces the plot to steal Metal Gear RAY to restore Russia to its previous Glory, and the Marines are caught in the middle. Sergei attempts to murder Ocelot, who successfully causes an explosion and makes off with RAY.
In the wake of the chaos, Solid Snake is blamed entirely for the theft and explosion, subsequently being label🌳ed a terrorist and forced into hiding.
5 2009 - Big 🀅Shell
The Sons of Liberty are usi𒆙ng the Big Shell as a pseudo-base camp, holding hostages — like the US President — inside. This is the driving plot of the game, and the Sons of 😼Liberty’s threat to detonate Big Shell and cause ecological devastation is a major part.
Raiden (by way of FOXHOUND) goes to Big Shell on a rescue mission, and in the recovery of Big Shell, it is determined to be a Metal Gear itself called Arsenal Gear, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:running Patriots’s AI.
4 2009 - So🍌lid Snake Returns ♕
Raiden has the help of Solid Snake, who had masqueraded as various others to maintain his freedom, Emma Emmerich, and Otacon to upload a virus into the Patriots’s AI. Though the group is (seemingly) successful, they are caught, and Emma is killedღ by Patriots member, Vamp.
Once Ocelot catches up to ꦿthem, he informs Raiden it was all a simulation by the AI, attempting to make him a useful and deadly soldier like Solid Snake.
3 2009 - Rai🔯den, I Am Your Father
The Patriots’s🐼 AI sends Raiden on a mission to kill Solidus Snake. He is൩ threatened with the death of his lover, Rosemary, if he doesn’t cooperate.
Once inside the Arsenal Gear, Raiden fights an army of 🧸Metal Gear RAYs to get to Solidus Snake, who then explains that he was🦋 Raiden’s foster father. Raiden, forced to choose between his foster father and lover, kills Solidus Snake, vowing to go after every member of the Patriots for their manipulation.
2 2011 - Ocelot On Top ♉
After a long complex battle over Arsenal Gear, the Patriots complete the development of the Arsenal G🔯ear Battleship. Unfortunately for them, it is almost immediately stolen by Ocelot, who is able to restore the remains of its original AI.
Ocelot renames the battleship Outer Haven — a direct reference to Big Boss’s Outer Heaven militia organization — and taꦺkes it to the Shadow Moses to hideaway.
1 ⛄ 2012 - The Next Generation 💦
Raiden rescues Olga Gurlukovich’s daughter, Sunny, from the Patriots. She was kidnaped not long after her birth in a bid to force Olga to join the Patriots as a military leader🃏. Instead, she chose to run her dad’s organization — Gurlukovich Mercenaries — after his death.
Once she’s saved from the Patriots, Sunny꧒ goes t♛o live under the guidance and protection of Otacon.
