No matter what game brought you into the series, you're sure to have at least one memory of a tough boss battle.

Silent Hill, characters making unexpect✱ed comebacks, wild sections, and more.

There are plenty of tough moments and fights throughout the long series, but not all are created equal. Climactic fights on top of robots, ch🌞ance encounters with antaꦉgonists with supernatural abilities, and even pistol duels with cowboys are just some of the best boss battles in the Metal Gear series.

10 🦄 Revolver/Liquid Ocelot 🐲

"Metal Gear Only Has Room For One"

Revolver Ocelot about to fight solid snake in MGS1 remaster

A cowboy with twin revolvers, whether he's shown up as Revolver Ocelot or Liquid Ocelot, he's been an interesting character to come across. With all the other major characters in the series, with all their technological advantages and weaponry, you know this guy has to be tough when you see him with twin revolvers and no other weapons.

He's flashy, sometimes cocky, but he backs it up with skills that will gun down anyone who comes across him. Depending on which game you saw him in, he could be an ally or an enemy, but no matter which game it was, you can't help but be drawn in by Ocelot as a character.

9 Cyborg Ninja ꩲ

"Now We Can Fight As Warriors"

Cyborg Ninja in armor and mask holding sword

Cyborg Ninja is, well... kind of exactly what the name says. In actuality, they are multiple different people in the series who have taken on the r♏ole as a moniker. The first time you meet this character is when Frank Jaeger puts on the mask and decides to try and stop Solid Snake in the first Metal Gear Solid.

We actually prefer some of these rather than the final 𝓰bosses of their games.

Other than being a case of bringing a sword to a gunfight, it's a battle that's a testament to your speed and observation of your opponent's moveset. In hindsight, it's easy to see how the Cyborg Ninja character has grown to influence multiple other character designs as well.

8 Metal Gear Rex ♚

"He Who Controls The Battlefield Controls History"

PlayStation Metal Gear Solid Metal Gear REX Boss Fight

This list would be amiss if it didn't have at least one Metal Gear on it. Throughout the series, these weapons of mass destruction have appeared off and on, but none were so impressive as the first time seeing Metal Gear Rex.

A large, bipedal, tank-like construct, it looks like a dinosaur of the future. The only thing more intimidating about Rex is the wide array of cannons pointing out from its hull. Metal Gear Rex was definitely one of the tougher bosses in the series, and it put a name to the 🐈titular Metal Gear technology that suffuses the fictional future of the games.

7 𒅌 Liquid Snake 𒁃

"You've Served Your Purpose, You May Die Now"

Metal Gear Solid Screenshot Of Liquid Snake Standing Before Rex

An enigmatic character, the final villain in the first Metal Gear game, and part of a group who genetically experimented on soldiers, Liquid Snake is a lot of things rolled into one. Don't let the wild blonde hair fool you; he packs a mean punch, too.

Few moments in the entire Metal Gear series stack up to fist-fighting Liquid Snake on top of the recently destroyed Metal Gear Rex at the end of the first game. It's over the top, dramatic, and something you'd only come to expect from this series. Not to mention that it's not an easy fight, either.

6 🃏🌳 The Sorrow

"This World Is One Of Sadness"

Closeup of the sorrow

You wouldn't think a necromancer would be something you'd come across in a Metal Gear Solid game, but then you'd be wrong. Sure, the series has had plenty of wacky moments, but the fight with The Sorrow is something else entirely.

Reminiscent of Psycho Mantis in an earlier installment, The Sorrow is all too keen on messing with your mind, resurrecting the spirits of anyone you've killed so far in the game and making them haunt you. No one said he had to play fair. It's definitely one of the weirdest, and spookiest, boss fights in the series.

5 The End

"I See You"

Metal Gear Solid 3 The End Boss Battle

The End had seen a lot in his long life as a military sniper, but even after all his years on the battlefield, he won't take it easy on Naked Snake. His boss fight tests your abilities in the game so far: stealth, accuracy, and proper use of items are all at play here in this battle of wills.

The End is far from the usual opponent for Naked Snake, his parrot and peculiar demeanor included. Still, there's something to be said for anyone who survived his test of patience and took him out lethally or otherwise.

4 Man On Fire ♏

"This Is War, Major"

Man on fire MGS V hospital introduction

With a name like that, you know you're in for a boss fight to remember. A Soviet experiment seemingly gone wrong, a man kept alive on hatred alone, and a reoccurring character from previous games, the Man On Fire is one of the most visually intimidating and odd fights in the series.

Venom Snake had his work cut out for him, facing off against this man-turned-monster who not only has electric and fire-based supernatural abilities but also a distinct aversion to dying. For long-time fans of the series who'd thought they'd surely seen it all, this was quite the surprising twist.

3 🌄 ﷽Jetstream Sam

"You Deny Your Weapon Its Purpose"

Jetsream Sam kills a police officer

While Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance doesn't always take itself seriously, few bosses in the Metal Gear series feel as poetic as the sword fight against Jetstream Sam. He's aloof, he's roguish, and he's a remarkable swordsman. One of the Desperado PMC group members, he is one of the main enemies of Revengeance.

What's more, Raiden has a bone to pick with him after the opening of the game. Not that all the cybernetic implants aren't cool, but surely Raiden didn't want to have to go through with all of that. Sam is one of the few enemies with a little bit of moral ambiguity who you almost feel bad about having to fight him.

2 The Boss

"There's Only Room For One Snake And One Boss"

Metal Gear Solid 3 Screenshot Of Snake And The Boss

Few boss fights are as pretty and poetic as the one againsౠt The Boss at the end of Snake Eater. In a field of flow🔯ers, the protagonist and antagonist meet. Neither seem to be keen on the idea of trying to kill one another, but they also both know what must be done.

It was a surpr𝄹isingly emotional point in the series to watch The Boss fall and Naked Snake stand over her, solemnly aware of his victory. It hit you with a sort of pride you could only feel after crawling through the jungle for hours and, well... eating snakes.

1 Psyc🥀ho Mantis ꦉ

"You Doubt My Power"

Metal Gear Solid Psycho Mantis boss fight

One of the first bosses in any game that used168澳洲幸运5开奖网: psychology against you and the protagonist at the same time. Psycho Mantis swore he could read your mind, and while that's still up in the air, he was at least able to read your other save files.

That and the ability to mess with your controller were novel ideas and something you'd only come to see from a Metal Gear game. Is he the deadliest boss out there? No. But the impressive gameplay design and a pretty creepy character mix into a boss that anyone who's played through the series will still remember to this day.
