Metaphor: ReFantazioꦯ – Best Party Compositions

Who gets one of the coveted party member spots, and who is forced🌠 to sit in the reserves? Let's build the perfect party compositions to use.

3

All of the characters have fantastic bonds and stories for their growth, but some are more tactically useful than others, and even story-wise, some hit just that much harder. Because of the nature of this list, there will be spoilers for all of the game's followers in this article.

Final warning for spoilers ahead!

7 Grius

Grius is a𓆉 great guy and the second party member you get. He is the agent you are going to meet at the Northern Border Fort and informs you on what the majority of your mission will entail. Unfortunately, though, he is🌠 killed in the first act of the game.

Due to this, not only is he only a temporary party member, but he doesn't even get his own unique Archetype like th❀e other party members. We will always remember Grius, his importance in our mission, and his noble sacrifice. We will not, however, remember him as a party member.

6 Basilio

While Basilio, the kind-hearted Paripus that slowly warms up to you over the 🧔courseꦕ of the game, is a really cool addition to the party, he suffers from the same thing a lot of party members in RPGs do: his late entrance. He joins your quest just as things are ramping up to the finale, and you have about a month left on the clock.

Basilio joining will, of course, unlock his bond and his 🔯unique archetype, the Berserker. But by then, you are already attached to all the other characters, further ahead with them in terms of their archetypes and bond progression, and don't have much time to orient yourself to a whole new party member with everything going on in the story. The Berserker is a useful archetype, but it doesn't really fill any roles we don't have already by this point in the game, both with advanced archetypes and inherited skill combinations. It focuses on heavy physical damage, which is useful, but again, it can be covered by archetypes like the Brawler, Gunner, or Warrior lineages. It is a shame, as Basilio🌟 is a very fun, badass character, so you will have to enjoy your time with him while you have it.

5 Strohl

Strohl is the typical "best friend" character that you get in Atlus games. He is with you from the beginning and stays by your side until the very end. For those familiar with the Persona series, he's like the Ryuji or Yosuke.

Because of this, while he is a reliable confidant (both figuratively and literally, in the case of Atlus's commonly used confidant system), he doesn't offer much uniqueness beyond that. He is a good man with some prett🎉y cool advanced archetypes and a fairly heartwarming, if not pretty generic, bond storyline. Other companions simply offer more, be it in their stories, gameplay eff♉iciency, or both.

4 Eupha

Eupha is the Mustari priestess who joins you on your adventure after her awakening in the dragon temple. She is kind-hearted and eager to explore the world outside her home of the Virga Islands and unlocks the Summoner archetype. Like Basilio, Eupha is also added pretty late into the game,🔯 but she is added earlier than him and her Archetype is quite powerful.

The Summoner archetype is fantastic. This allows you to deal high elemental damage, heal, and other useful abilities, all in the forms of various monsters and god-like beings (and eventually, even familiar Personas from the games' sister series). Eup🌌ha herself is also a fun addition to the party, serving as the naive princess, discovering everything about the outside world as you ✱travel.

3 ♔Hulkenberg 🦋

Hulkenberg quickly became a fan-favorite of the game, and for good reason. She is a tall, attractive Roussainte woman (which is this game's version of an Elf from other fantasy settings) with a knightly but humorous personality. Her main flaw is her ♋absolutely🌟 absurd palate, as she is willing to eat anything. She is also quite useful in combat, especially in the early game.

She does not do as much damage as🦋 other party members, but that's fine, as she is an excellent tank. She starts with, and unlocks for you, the Knight lineage, which is a defense-heavy archetype. With her high endurance, this Archetype will allow you to resist physical attacks, which are often some of the higher-damaging attacks t💫hat enemies have, and her Knight's Proclomation skill will allow you to have them all target her and save your other party members.

2 Junah

The beautiful songstress Junah joins your party after it is revealed that she is the second agent Grius spoke of. Junah has one of the more interesting characterizations and bond storylines of your followers, as well as a lot of main plot relevance. She is of the Nidia tribe, often stereotyped as liars, and able to win the hearts of most people. Junah uses this to her advantage, being a famous singer and worming her way into 𓂃the inner circle of Louis's army.

With friends like these...

Junah also unlocks the Masked Dancer archetype, which is incredibly useful as it allows you to equip different masks to gain the aspect of the other archetypes. This allows you to gain some of their spells, as well as their strengths and weaknesses, without having to completely change archetypes or buy them wi♎th MAG. This makes Junah really versatile as a party member.

1 Heismay

The adorable Eugief shadowknight with the voice of steel, Heismay comes with the Thief archetype, which is a fun c🉐hange of pace from the archetypes you had access to previously. This lineage lets you cast dark magic, steal items and health from enemies, and even the chance to one-shot enemies with specific spells and attacks.

From a character standpoint, Heismay is great fun and arguably has the best bond story in the game, and to some, even among the Persona games as well. He has a unique design, being a member of the Eugief tribe, bearing the resemblance of an albino bat and a rabbit. He always has some unique insi𝄹ghts 🥀to offer, and doing pastimes with him makes for some of the funniest moments in the game (If you haven't done laundry with Heismay, please do.), as well as some of the most heartfelt with his bond storyline involving his deceased son and your quest to find a resting place for him. Atlus absolutely knocked it out of the park with Heismay, and he serves as the baseline for party members moving forward in their games.
