Nintendo's Metroid is a science-fiction series that's been around since 1986 and has solidified itself as one of the most influential of all time, even launching an entirely new genre. In 2002, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metroid Prime was groundbreaking for the series for being the 🐭first in 3D and providing a first-person perspective of the iconic bounty hunter Samus Aran.
The remastered version of Metroid Prime now hopes to capture these same cherished experiences with updated features and graphics for a newer generation. However, if you completed Samus' objective, there are still loads of other games that involve traversing the cosmos and going toe-to-toe with some aliens.
10 ꧅ Aliens: Fireteam Elite
It's no secret that the design behind the sci-fi atmosphere of the Metroid series was 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:heavily influenced by H.R. Giger and Ridley Scott's Alien. There's even an antagonist named Ridley that always comes back to haunt Samus throughout the installments. Many games structured around the Alien universe lore have been developed, but 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Aliens: Fireteam Elite is up there with the best.
Fireteam Elite is more action-oriented than the survival horror 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Alien: Isolation and a solid improvement over Colonial Marines. Here, you can team up with a squad of three to eliminate waves of unique species of Xenomorphs as you've never seen. And if you prefer to slay the hordes alone like the lone Samus, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:you absolutely can.
9 Dead Space Remake 🔜
If you're up for more survival horror in your sci-fi adventure, the remake of the classic hit 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dead Space will surely do the trick. Just as Samus Aran enters the Orpheon to be met with hostile alien creatures over Tallo🐟n IV, engineer Isaac Clarke arrives at the USG Ishimura, a space station mining a planet known as Aegis VII that harbors a terrifying surprise.
Isaac and his fellow crew are attacked by reanimated alien creatures called N🍃ecromorphs that come in many grotesque shapes and sizes, with some genuinely eerie body horror. The Ishimura is also home to more gigantic bosses commonly found throughout Metroid Prime, and the main character wears a uniq🦋ue RIG suit, which has available upgrades.
8 Deep Rock Galactic 🍬
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Deep Rock Galactic is quite a contrasting premise to Metroid Prime and one that also encourages a co-op experience, but it's quite a fun concept nonetheless. You're part of a team of dwarves sent into space by 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:an intergalactic mining company to explore caves filled not only with valuable resources but where some deadly monstrosit🔯ies await.
You can choose from one of four character classes, including the Gunner, Scout, Engineer, and Driller. Each has a distinguished set of weapons to help defend against the wide range of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:creepy-crawly Glyphid alien organisms. The caves are procedurally generated as well, so you'll never know what's in store.
7 💦 The Halo Series ✃
Though Master Chief can't roll up into a ball, and his Mjolnir armored suit is nowhere near the craftsmanship of Samus' Chozo Power Suit, he's still a formidable protagonist fighting off alien incursions. Master Chief is a Spartan of the United Nations Space Command who's been the face of the first-person shooter Halo series since the beginning.
Any of the earlier games from his collection deliver incredible sci-fi fun and feature a relatively silent Master Chief. But the gorgeous visuals and graphics of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Halo Infinite, alo🤪ng with its sprawling map filled with 📖Grunts, Jackals, and Elites, is a perfect pairing after finishing Metroid Prime. There are also multiplayer matches available on top of the main story.
6 Scorn
A game that leans fully on H.R. Giger in its design, themes, and art style is Scorn. It's a first-person shooter puzzle game that's very different from all others in the genre. You wake up without any real sense of the setting, characters, or objectives in a cave system that resembles much of an Engineer ship from Alien mythology.
The environments are designed with intense and disturbing puzzle rooms that showcase 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:strange imagery and weaponry modeled after this signature biomechanical style.📖 Although the focus is more on puzzles and environmental storytelling than combat, weapons still play a part in solving them and dealing with the occasional alien creature that lurks about.
5 Prey
Prey is a first-person sci-fi shooter that comes from the studio behind 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dishonored. The game is set during an alternate timeline in the near future aboard a space station named Talos I. You play Dr. Morgan 🎃Yu, the Director of Research for the company that owns the station. And the research here pertains to an advanced extraterrestrial species called Typhon that possess a shape-shifting ability.
These alien beings manage to escape and run loose around the entire station posing a severe risk to every remaining personnel. You have many different kinds of unique weapons at your disposal to deal with them but also level the playing field by using 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:♔some of their incredible Typhon powers against them.
4 Hi🧸gh On Life ꧙
If you're a fan of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Rick and Morty and don't mind a crudely humorous comedic spin on blasting villainous aliens, then 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:High On Life is an excellent and entertaining option. This game turns an ordinary high school graduate into an elite boun𒐪ty hunter when a cartel of aliens manufacturing drugs from human life invades your world.
Your bounty-hunting journey will lead you to various characters and bosses that are never short on laughs. Where High On Life is the most fun, however, is that your character is silent, and a species of talking guns called Gatlians, voiced by 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:some familiar comedians and actors, do all the reacting and talking.
3 Returnal
Now that Returnal is available on PC and losing its exclusivity, it may be the perfect opportunity to check it out. In this game, space traveler Selene Vassos tracks an odd signal she calls the "White Shadow" to an uncharted planet named Atropos. Her pursuit of this planet causes her to crash-land onto it, and she soon discovers that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:she's stuck in a time loop.
But it turns out Atropos isn't so empty after all, as it contains a slew of tentacled creatures that shoot projectiles in Bullet Hell fashion. This game also features its share of demanding bosses, mystery, and a roguelike gameplay design. And though Selene may not have a special suit like Samus, you can utilize alien tech to make modifications and gain new abilities.
2 ꩵ Doom Eternal
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Doom Eternal is the closest you can possibly get to a☂ gameplay experience similar to Metroid Prime. The transition from the fast-paced FPS action to small cutscenes featuring the Doom Slayer is a close match. And the lead protagonist here wears a battꦰle suit of a similar mold to Samus Aran, even having a cannon attachment on the shoulder to use on enemies.
Platforming becomes a prevalent aspect of Doom Eternal, whether traversing levels, finding secrets, or using the battle areas to your advantage. There's a balance of lighter alien foes to heavier boss enemies that prove equally challenging. As with Scorn and Dead Space, this is a more gruesome endeavor.
1 🀅 🅰 Metroid Dread
Best of all for fans of the remastered Metroid Prime is 2021's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metroid Dread. Metroid Prime saw the series 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:diverge into an FPS style, but Dread takes it back to its original third-person side-scrolling roots. It's also a direct sequel to 2002's Metroid Fusion and sends Samus on a new mission to a planet called ZDR.
The next-gen graphics and environments are immersive and stunning, coupled with🍸 the boss variety and design that make it one🍒 of the most astonishing for a Metroid entry. Unfortunately, Ridley remains absent in this one, but you do see a return from Kraid.
