Microsoft won’tജ require that all games run at 60 FPS on the Xbox Series X, even though most of them probably will.

In the PC gaming world where your frame rate is determined by your personal hardware, 60 FPS is seen as the minimum target for smooth gameplay. Consoles, however, haven’t always hit that target. Various Nintendo Switch titles and other graphically intensive games drop as low as 30 FPS 🌊without too much complaining from gamers.

With the astounding power that the Xbox Series X is said to bring to the table, we don’t⭕ expect to see too many games running at 30 FPS, but Xbox marketing head Aaron Greenberg says that the option is there if developers need it.

"Developers always have flexibilit꧅y in how they use the power, so a standard or common 60 FPS is not a mandate," Greenberg wrote in a Twitter post on Monday. This was in response to an earlier post that said “60 FPS will be the standard output,” and that the Xbox Series X architecture can support up to 120 FPS.

Currently, the only game that we’re aware of that is targeting both 4K graphics and a 60 FPS frame rate is Chorus, but we expect most next-gen games will 💯have similar graphical features. That said, it’s not impossible to imagine a future game that’s so graphically intense that the developer is forced toꦗ drop its frame rate to 30 FPS just so that it can run.
