E3 2020 is cancelled. Unfortunately, hosting 10-minute orchestra suites to announce video games is counter-productive to social distancing, which means that the industry event has been cancelled this year. However, Microsoft seems to be thinking ahead, and has stated that they w🌃ill at E3 2021 either.

In an email that Microsoft sent out to its Microsoft MVPs – that’s Most Valuable Professionals, non-employees associated with Microsoft – which stated that all events will be moving to a “digital-first experience” until July of next year. E3 is scheduled to run during the weekend of July 13-15th in 2021.

This means that, barring any changes, Xbox will not be hosting its usual E3 event, at least not physically. It will be replaced by a digital-first experience, likely either a stream or pre-recorded video. All of Microsoft’s internal events will be going digital too, which means that events l🔥ike the annual Xbox showcase will also be a similar experience.

This all assumes, of course, that E3 will conti🔯nue into 2021. Although E3 has promised a , but many companies have broken away from E3 in favor of company-specific events to announce new releases. E3 might be returning in 2021, but if enough companies have reduced presence there, it could spell a slow deathಌ for the event.
