Look, I just have to say it. I like Miles’ new suit. Whether you’ve played 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Spider-Man 2 or not, you’ve likely seen the new suit Miles dons at the end of Spider-Man 2 all over the internet as the entire gaming commu♛nity stands as one to say “nah”. But I defy these naysayers, and 🅺rise alone to say “yeah”.

My favourite suits for Miles are the Sportswear and City Sounds suits, because both of them feel like they belong to him. I don’t much care for the Spider-Verse suits despite loving the movies, and then most of the rest of them are just regular 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Spider-Man suits. I can vibe with Miles Morales 2020 or the Crimson Cowl too, but many of the suits Peter and Miles wear feel interchangeable. The colour swap mechanic gives you more options, but it also lets you put Miles in red and blue while Peter wears black. It&rsqℱuo;s harder 💯to distinguish the two Spideys when they both just wear a spandex onesie.

The Next Spider-Man Game Shouldn’t Be 🗹About Venom, It Should Be About…

Venom probably won't be playable in the next Spider-Man꧅ game, but a character very close to Miles might suit up soon

Since the story revolved far more around Peter, I played as Miles𝔉 as often as I could in the side content, and his smaller stories made the world feel important. Though his own spin-off was actually about him becoming Spider-Man and feeling that responsibility, it seems like his arc here is🅘 about feeling true to his city and protecting everyone in it. To do that, he can’t be in Peter’s shadow - especially when Peter is mostly off fighting superbeings.

The Evolved suit and its different styles from Marvel's Spider-Man 2

So he needs a suit that Peter would never wear, and Peter would never wear Miles’ final suit. He calls it a Miles Morales original, “one of one”, and even though we know he made his first suit (the unlockable suits aren’t canon with a few limited exceptions), he basically made Peter’s suit in a different colour. This new suit is Miles, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:right down to the hair. And hey, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:that’s Miles too.

Maybe I’m just dorky and white, sitting here saying, “golly gee and holy smokes, that young Black gentleman certainly knows how to look super fly”. But I discovered this suit in the game, with no context around how anyone felt, and when Miles swung in I was impressed that he had a canon suit that actually felt like a Miles suit. Naturally, as soon as I could I wanted to see what colour options were (I had every suit an🎃d combo bar Peter’s post-game unlocked by then), then switched to all white and never looked back.

It was a surprise to learn that when other people reached that point, they hated it. As with any of these trivial things in ൩gaming, I’m sure we’ll see some revision in a few months where we all say, “you know what, this grew on me” and then have the whole thing again. I’ll be waiting smugly until then.

I will concede that the shoes are bad. Despite Miles’ long-standing connection to Jordans, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Insomniac Miles wears Adidas and his final suit includes some Symbiote three stripes that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:match the ones Adi🔯das is selling right now. What are the odds?🌠 They don’t fully mesh with the suit’s look, are overlyꦛ detailed, and also too bouncy and rounded for the suit’s otherwise sleek silhouette.

The colour swaps of all three variants are also better, and I have to wonder why the all white suit (that actually𓃲 goes with the shoes) wasn’t the default option. And while I like the hair, I think it misses a ‘hood up, it’s go time’ moment in his final scenes.

I just can’t shake the old Spike Lee line that it must be the shoes. With realistic, highly detailed sneakers, the look flirts with being streetwear while mostly being unrealistic superhero fare dreamed up by committees with whiteboards. Does it stop at the forehead for his hair to poke out, or is there a mesh for locs to slip t𒉰hrough? Is it just a wig glued on there? These questions wouldn’t really matter if the suit didn’t double up as an Adidas brand deal.

It’s neither an eccentric yet personalised superhero look nor a realistic streetwear ensemble with a superhero tweak. It sits right in the middle, and as much as I love Spider-Man 2 and Insomniac’s catalogue, the studio does tend to see, “you can’t please all of the people all of the time” as a suggestion rather than a rule. And hey, I’m pleased by this suit, and once we move on 🍰from it being the one thing we’ve agreed to say sucks about the game, I think a lot more of you will be too. Just get some new shoes, Miles. Please.
