Recently, received a gigantic update that overhauled the End, adding a wealth of replay-value to this desolate, Dragon-infested zone littered with interdimensional teleporters. There was also a major ove🍨rhaul of the ocean along with villages, and it's not stopping there, as, in the next update, the Nether is set to receive similar treatment.
New biomes, mobs and blocks galore with plenty of additions, big and small, to keep things fresh. There's blue fire, a way to automate bridge-building across the lava pools and more, so here are the top ten new things that you can do in Minecraft's Nether update.
9 Create Blue Fire 🌜
There's only ever been one color of fire in Minecraft, although the element's better-half, water, gained the ability to be dyed in cauldrons in the Bedrock Edition. With the Nether update, you'll gain access to a single new colo🦂r ﷽of fire - blue.
So, how do you make this? Well, it's simple; fire, caused by any means you deem necessary, cannot be changed, so you still get the normal effect when you burn down a forest to get tꦺhose tricky log-infested leaf-heads, but if you burn soul sand, you'll get this new blue variant. This could open the door for some interesting builds, especially considering the addition of blue torches and lanterns.
8 Make Automated Lava Bridge Builders🐭
You can't put water in the Nether, so a cobblestone generator is out of the question entirely, but for whatever🐠 reason, Mojang opted to let players bring forth with them ice - frozen water. In the current build, y🌸ou can use this for some speedy paths to cross large distances in the overworld by traveling through portals in the Nether.
In ♍the updated version, to build a fully automated bridge-builder that turns 🗹the lava into basalt, a new block. This should make crossing the lava oceans a touch easier.
7 ꧟ Ride A Mob To Get Across Lava 🌊
There's a sparkly nꦯew mob being added in the Nether update (well, there's a few, but this one, i🌺n particular, stands out), and that is the Strider, a cutesy little devilish ridable creature that can walk on lava.
They've in♈stantly become a favorite amongst the community, spawning an untold amount of fan art, but if you attach a saddle to this little gremlin, you can pop on their back like you would❀ with a pig. Similarly to pigs, you have to dangle an item on a stick in front of them to get them to move, but instead of a carrot, you use warped fungus.
6 🌊 Make Tools And Weapons Superior To Diamond
When emerald was added, many were upset to see that the gem wasn't usable in the same way that diamond or gold was, instಌead being a means of currency with villagers and traders. However, the Nether update will add a brand new tier to weapons and tools with the aptly named Netherite.
This new mineral, that can be mined exclusively in the Nether, much like with the addition of the building-oriented quartz, is ⛄black in color and requires gold to be crafted. To make it, Then, you combine your new metal with a diamond tool or weapon to upgrade it.
5 Create Redstone Contraptions That 🐟Activate When Hit With A Projectile
String being updated to be used as a trip-wire was a great addition to Minecraft that added further depth to Red𝄹stone as a whole, and Mojang aren't stopping there, as t𓄧hey're adding a brand new block named the 'Target.'
When hit by a projectile, such as an arrow, llama spit, eggs, snowballs, etc, it emits a Redstone signal. The closer to the center of the block that the projectile hits, the stronger the signal produced. Combined with a dispenser or an 💛agitated llama, and this could make for some interesting contraptions.
4 ✅ Set Your Spawn Point In The Nether With A Bed-Like Block 𒀰
In the Nether or the End, if you use a bed, it explodes. This, natur🦩ally, isn't particularly helpful if you want a new spawn point in the Nether. However, that is about to change with the implementation of crying obsidian.
Combining six of this new block with three glowstone cre🍸ates a Respawn Anchor, which, when used in the Nether, resets your spawn point in that dimension. However, i⛄f used in the Overworld, it will explode. It's a little more demanding than a simple woolen bed, as you have to charge it up, but it still acts as the bed's counterpart.
3 Barter Withꩲ Pigmen
Whilst the Zombie Pigmen are friendly enough, they can turn into a pack of irritants if hurt, and in the Nether update, they'll finally be receiving a non-zombified version by means of the Piꦰglin.
These new humanoid 🃏piꦦgs are the Nether's own take on villagers, but they're hostile, equipped with crossbows and golden swords. However, you can stay on their good side if♛ you opt to wear some golden armor. When friendly with them, you can trade for some exclꦰusive goodies.
2 ༒ 🉐 Walk Fast On Soul Sand
In the Nether, there's a block called Soul Sand, and when you walk on it, ꧃you're slowed down a touch. There's never been a way to speed this up, but Mojang has added a brand new enchantment called Soul Speed that lets you traverse Soul Sand and Soul Soil at normal speed.
Given that there's a new bi💛ome called the Soul San๊d Valley, this is a nice addition to the enchantment roster, but it can only be acquired by trading with one of the new mobs, the Piglins. The downside? Each block walked on damages🦄 the durability of your boots.
1 Change Where Compasses Point ♍
Currently, the compass points to the spawn point, or 0, 0. That's a fine system an♋d 💃makes finding your beginnings an easy task, which you can then build a path from to your base, or just set up shop right there. Mojang is going to make it even more convenient in the Nether update, though.
With a Netherite ingot surrounded by eight chiseled stone bricks, you can🅠 craft a Lodestone, which changes wh🌼ere the compass points to. It acts as an anchor, meaning that you can plop one in your base and use the compass to find your way home. This should make exploration a less daunting task, as getting back will be that much simpler.
