Nearly 30 hours into 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Baldur's Gate 3, and I finally met two companions that I've heard other players talk about since launch.

Looking for ways to level up before taking on the Underdark, I decided to explore further north, in the area near where Halsin said there was a Mountain Pass leading to Moonrise Towers. In doing this, I discovered a whole bunch of other stuff, including Karlach and Wyll. If I had gone with my original plan, to just charge into the Underdark, I would have missed ꦿthem entirely.

This is the third time this same scenario has played out already in my relatively brief time with Baldur's Gate 3. Early on, I met up with Shadowheart then promptly stumbled upon a battle outside the Druid Grove. This led to me heading into the Grove and, given that the door slams shut behind you, I assumed it wouldn't be easy to leave. Eventually, I realized I needed another character in my party to be able to handle the battles the game was going to start throwing at me, headed back to the gate, and hopped down, suffering some fall damage.

Only then did I find out, by inadvertently walking by the gate, that it would have just opened for me if I approached it. Knowledge in hand, I set out and immediately met Lae'zel. After that, I stumbled upon Astarion, and we headed out to explore and found the Goblin Camp. I spent another 10 hours there, resolving this stretch of the main quest. Only after that did I realize I hadn't met Gale, who I saw a lot of people talking about online, and headed out looking for him before I started exploring the Underdark.

I found him, and now he's a valued member of the party — despite his incessant need to devour valuable magical items. But, if I wasn't plugged into what people were saying about Baldur's Gate 3 online, I wouldn't have even known that Gale existed. I'm glad I found him because having his Magic Missile in addition to my player character's Magic Missile has been invaluable in fights. But if I hadn't passed through the exact spot on the map where his hand was extending out of a portal, I just wouldn't have that asset at all.

My experience with Karlach was similar. I didn't even know that I could meet her in Act 1, and was set to stride into Act 2 without her in the party. When I did get to the area where she was waiting, bloody and battered, I only went in her direction because of my perpetual need to explore the way I don't think the game wants me to go before I explore the way I think it does want me to go.

Baldur's Gate 3 Karlach Throwing A Melee Weapon

I obviously haven't finished Baldur's Gate 3, so I have no idea if the game finds ways to reintroduce you to these companions if you miss them during your first window. If it doesn’t, could you just head into the endgame without anyone in your party? Given that Baldur’s Gate 3 is cut from the same flexible cloth as the recent Zelda games &mdas🍒h; which allow you to take on Ganon wielding a broom in your underwear if you want — I’m guessing you could.

That may strike other players as a negative. But to me, it’s entirely positive. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game about choices, and I like that you can only make the choices in front of you. The game won’t railroad you into the experience it wants yo💦u to have. Missing important moments is as essential to the game as living through them. What y💧our character doesn’t do, and who they don’t meet, shape who they are as much as any choice they actively make.
