You ha🎶ve your pick of three fielding interfaces, plus the option to have the AI automatically field for you. With the right ﷺsettings, you'll be posting shutouts and stifling offenses left and right. Here's a rundown of each fielding interface to determine which one is best for you.
Drifting Ball
If you use the drifting ball interface, whenever a player on the opposite team hits the ball into play, a baseball icon will appear at the exact location the hit will land. It will then shrink as the hit approaches the ground, allowing you to gauge when it will land. Position your player underneath, ℱand they'll 🅠make the catch.
The drift of the ball in this interface is determined by your player's fielding attributes. However, if you have a precise indication of where the ball will land, it's incredibly difficult not to catch it, regardless of that player's stats.
This is the most precise fielding option, and definitely the best for beginners. It's hard to beat knowing exactly where the ball will land, but you might find that the giant baseball on the ground is a bit too garish for your tastes, or that it obscures parts of the envir🦩onment like foul lines.
Track Ball
Track ball is similar to drifting ball, except you're given a stripe on the ground showing the general area in which the ball will land, and you have to track it in the air in order to make the catch and get the player out. You get a yellow indicator that travels toward the stripe to show when the ball will hit the ground, and the size of the stripe is determined by the player's fielding attributes.
This system is almost identical to the drifting ball interface, but may provide a slight increase in challenge for players looking to up their skills and꧂ receive less handholding from the game.
Catch Indicator Off
It's as simple as it sounds: you have no catch indicator. You'll still have arrows pointing in the direction of where you should go to field the ball, but the game won't tell you where to stand to make a successful catch.
This one is definitely for the pros. There's almost no upside to turning this feature off, unless the user interface is really bothering you, or you want to be able to see the field better. Even in those circumstances, however, you could be giving up your ability to make a clutch out and cost yourself dearly.
Auto Fielding
If fielding isn't a feature you feel you want to worry about while you're playing, you can turn it off entirely and have the AI field balls for you.
The only downside to this is that you'll lack control over a significant part of the baseball experience and are aꦿt the game's mercy when it comes to making outs.
Which Interface Is Best For You?
The best fielding interface is very obvious, and it's the drifting ball interface. You could make the case that the track ball is on the same level, but it seems purposefully obtuse to use a stripe when you could stand underneath a precise shrinking icon and make the catch 99 percent of the time.
Auto-fi🔯elding could be useful for those just getting into games, but they'll quickly switch to drifting ball once they realize it's not much more difficult.
