The world of Allods Online is certainly a promising one♈. Aside from the fantasy aspects oꦬf the combat, players could create airships for combat. The pirate/fantasy combo was a cool concept, and the art direction for the game was quite well-realized and whimsical in nature.
Unfortunately, the gameplay didn’t really live up to expectations, as it functions as a very traditional MMORPG with no huge deviations to the formula to make it engaging. When it comes to MMORPGs, there are Allods of other games t🎃o play (pun abs🌼olutely intended).
7 ♈ Defiance Oﷺnline
Based on the accompanying television show, Defiance is a third-person shooter massive multiplayer online game that had huge intentions. The futuristic and gritty art direction showed p💧romise, alongside the unique aspect of an MMORPG that was a third-person shooter. Despite these cases, the game wasn’t a great shooter in any aspect, which got in the way of the experience. Its sequel (Defiance 2050) was also received similarly. This series might need to rꦆethink its structure going forward.

Star Wars has some of the richest world (and galaxy) building that has ever been put to the screen, movie or video game alike. It was only a matter of time before the Star Wars universe translated itself into the realm of the MMORPG, and Star Wars The Old Republic did just that. The planets that could be explored were brimm🥂ing with detail, and the character and weaponry design was as great as any other Star Wars media. Unfortunately, the game catered to typical MMORPG design, which disappointed players who were looking for more re🎃al-time lightsaber swinging as opposed to clicking on combat options.
3 🐠 Revelation Online
Revelation Online created some incredible Chine𓆏se inspired locales for magnitudes of players to explore. The concept art and the final product were pretty jaw-dropping in its time. Over time however, the player-base of Revelation Online has dropped significantly and that was heavily due to the gameplay not reaching the potential that world-building deserved. Hopefully this game can ha꧋ve a second-wind with players in 2021.

League of Angels (not to be confused with League of Legends) has had 2 sequels in recent years, and while those games appear to have had greater success, the first League of Angels was an MMORPG that wasn’t quite well-received. The creature design and ✨the explorable worlds were gorgeous, but the moment to moment gameplay didn’t gr🔜ip players as much as it could have, but it appears that the sequels may have fixed this issue in the last few years.

Steampunk design has snuck its way into the ma🅺instream over the years, and gamers love toꩵ see its influences in games. The MMORPG Black Gold Online attempted to go full sail into steampunk, and ended creating lovely worlds that felt gigantic and detailed around every corner. Unfortunately, its good ideas didn’t go far beyond its design influences, because the gameplay wasn’t very well-received within the community.
