Modiphius recently announced the release of the Mutant Chronicles Card Decks, four PDF print-and-play card decks for the Mutant Chronicles diesel-punk RPG. These card decks are designed to greatly expand the resources and gameplay possibilities for both Mutant Chronicle GMs and players.
The is set in a far future where all of Earth’s resources have been used up. Most of humanity has left Earth behind to seek out a new life on other planets such as Luna, Mars, Mercury, and Venus. Five megacorporations and the Brotherhood govern these new civilizations. The four new card decks - Chronicle Point, Locations, NPC, and Symmetry Point - open up a variety of new options players may use in their Mutant Chronicles dark sci-fi adventures.
The Chronicle Point deck is a dual-purpose deck designed to assist players with tracking their Chronicle Points, the character resource used to perform the heroic actions often required to survive in the bleak world of Mutant Chronicles. One s🐠ide of the deck shows a single Chronicle Point. The other side shows two heroic action options and their results that a player may use directly, or draw inspiration from when using one of their Chronicle Points.
The Locations deck presents 70 locations across a Dark Symmetry campaign that a GM may use to plan or improvise unique elements of random or specific locations with. One side of each Locations card has an image and a brief description of a location, such as a high school, battlefield, high-rise building, or a common boardroom. The other side of these cards has three Dark Symmetry options a GM may use to increase the challenge for players in the set location. The Locations cards are designed to keep locations from becoming stale and repetitive during a Mutant Chronicles campaign.
The NPC deck holds an array of interesting and expendable NPCs that GMs may use to quickly introduce into a game session. These NPCs are pulled from the entirety of the Mutant Chronicles galaxy, and represent 🅰every level of the corporate hierarchy. One side of the cards in 💎this deck is printed with an image and brief description of an NPC, while the other side provides NPC stats, background info, and individual plot hooks.
The Symmetry Point deck is filled with inspiring ideas for GMs on ways they may spend Dark Symmetry 🍌Points during an encounter. Each card describes three particular one-point Dark Symmetry spends to increase the challenge of combat, skill tests, and the local environment. Each card also has a special event option, a fourth spend idea to really bring the power of the Dark Symmetry to bear against players during a scene.
