Hasbro is releasing a new version of that stars Pac-Man and includes a mini arcade cabinet that lets players enjoy a version of the original Pac-Man game.
The new Monopoly game is meant to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic Pac-Man when it was first released in arcades in 1980. The game is the collaboration of Hasbro and Namco to celebrate the legacy of this widelꦛy ♚recognized game.
According to , the game is inherently a Monopoly game at its core. Players travel around the board buying properties - or ‘levels’ as they’re referred to in the game - in an att🅠empt to cause other players to lose their points (money) and be the last person standing.
This version is unlike most others in that it introduces new game mechanics as well as the cosmetic changes. The mini arcade cabinet will track points, enable players to pay rent, buy, sell, and steal properties. But perhaps the most interesting feature is that this mini arcade cabinet features a functioning Pac-Man game that’s incorporated into the standa🌠🐲rd gameplay.
When players pass the Go square they can insert their plastic coin into the arcade cabinet to play a round of Pac-Man. Performing welꦺl in the game will result in the player receiving more points to spend on the board.
While the board game won’t hit store shelves until August 1, it’s already available for purchase on Amazon. The listing gives more detail on the game revealing there’s a Ghost token that will travel around the board as well with the roll of a Ghost Die. Presumably when the Ghost token lands on the same square as a play♐er it has a negative ramification such as sending them to Jail.
The game is bound to sell well given the popularity of both Monopoly and Pac-Man and the new features are likely to be appealing as well. It appears to be a⛄ solid combination of two iconic games that will be welcomed by people finding themselves at home more often these days.
