168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Monster Train is a difficult game. Despite being 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:one of the best roguelikes to release in recent memory, it belongs in a genre designed specifically to challenge you. Not only that, but Monster Train is also a very deep title. Operating on a complex combination of cards, trinkets, champions and clans, no two runs are likely to be the same. Needless to say, vi🌃ctory 𒉰can take quite some time.

One way to bypass the soul-crushing nature of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a great deck-builder is to go into it with some rough idea of what it is your deck is going to do: a build. Monster Train is heavily randomised, which means it is unlikely you will nail the perfect build every time. That being said, knowing what to look out for is certainly a step in the right direction.

5 💛 Hellhorned And Awoken: Tank ไAnd Hit Back Hard

Close up of Monster Train Hornbreaker Prince card with flavor text

Hellhorned pack quite a wallop. They boast high base damage, multistrike, and the ability to build up a bunch of rage for even more damage. The Hornbreaker Prince Champion can skyrocket in power if given a little bit of breathing room. The Awoken, on the other hand, are all about formidable physical fighters who like to duke it out in prolonged engagements. Awoken also has several potent buffs and powerful healing. These two are a perfect match and the build can be pulled off with very little effort. Put your damage dealer safely behind your tank and chug along to victory.

  • Hornbreaker Prince (Reaper/Brawler Mix)
  • Warrior/Demon Fiend
  • Awoken/Thorned Hollow
  • Restoration Detonation

In-Depth Deck Rundown:

Whilst this is a rather simple deck, it's certainly effective. Players should keep an eye out for cards like Awoken Hollow and Thorned Hollow for their defences. Both have hefty health pools, and both have the Rejuvenate special ability which buffs units when a Hollow is healed. The Awoken Hollow provides additional free healing while the Thorned Hollow increases its Spike damage. The latter is especially handy against Multistriking enemies. The Horned Prince is a perfect unit to hide behind any of these burly guys, but Horned Warrior or Demon Fiend can do work on other floors. The Awoken subclan opens up a bevvy of spells as well. Restoration Detonation, once upgraded, can heal and deal massive damage - even to bosses. Steel Enhancer is a 0 cost spell that makes your squishy Hellhorned more resistant to Spike damage or AOE.

4 𝄹 Melter And Umb🍸ra: Support Rector Flicker And Burn Your Way To Victory

Close up of Monster Train Rector Flicker card with flavor text

Rector Flicker, Champion of the Melter Clan, is a force of nature. From the get-go, he rolls in with a disgustingly high 50/50 stat block that can and will increase to 145/145. The downside of Rector, and the Melters in general, is their tendency to Burnout. Rector Flicker will die after 3 rounds of combat, regardless of how much damage he has sustained. This might sound like a pretty awful negative, but Melters also come with the amazingly convenient Reform line of cards. With a single cast, you can resummon this powerhouse,ಌ restarting the c💛lock.

  • Rector Flicker (Burn Bright)
  • Molded
  • Wicked Blaze
  • Furnace Tap
  • Umbra Stone

In-Depth Deck Rundown:

Rector has the potential to solo many bosses thanks to his monstrous damage, but he does have a major flaw. He still only has one attack per round, so killing any group of enemies is going to be difficult. Spells can help out here, as well as some support monsters. The big ones to look out for are in Umbra, though. Applying Multistrike or Trample to Rector immediately bypasses any flaws the waxy champion has. Summon, buff, burnout, reform, repeat.

3 Stygian Guard ♏And Awoken: Unleash The Potential Of Frostbite

MClose up of Monster Train Hoarfrost Effigy card with flavor text

Despite its title, monsters are not the only path to victory (although the train is pretty much a necessity). Stygian Guard can be built in all kinds of ways, but one of the more powerful builds you can go with is a Frostbite build. Unlike a troll brandishing a big club, Frostbite deals small amounts of damage, before exploding into an unstoppable vortex of hail. Awoken makes the perfect complement, as they can take a beating whilst Frostbite is being applied. The Sentient and the ever-useful Hollow twins are ideal for this role, but the real star of the show is the Hoarfrost Effigy. This spell transfers all Frostbite onto a single enemy, then doubles its value. Providing the deck is stacked with Frostbite like the Spike of the Stygian🐻 or Crystalline Seeds, the Effigy will be deadly.

  • The Sentient (Bristling)
  • Awoken/Thorned Hollow
  • Restoration Detonation
  • Hoarfrost Effigy
  • Flash Freeze
  • Spike of the Stygian

In-Depth Deck Rundown:

Stygian Guard also has access to Spell Weakness, allowing damage spells to hit multiple times. The Awoken are far more than just tanks in this deck. They have access to accelerated card draw that allow players to cycle their deck faster and play their Frostbite cards more often. Restoration Detonation is an evergreen spell in this build too, providing burst damage and healing. Finally, keep an eye out for the Cuttlebeard Artifact which stops Frostbite from decaying over time and adds +2 stacks whenever the effect is applied. This build is simple, strong and ♏168澳洲幸🦩运5开奖网:ideal for beginners and genre newcomers.

2 ﷽ Umbra And Hellhorned: Flame-grilled Barbeque ജ

Close up of Monster Train Primordium card with flavor text

This deck relies on the interesting Consume mechanic unique to the Umbra. Primordium will die, just not by being attacked. Primordium is all about feeding himself to his underlings. It comes with the potent Buffet ability that allows it to survive a number of Consumptions, providing multiple stat bonuses to the ally leading the charge. When upgraded down the Superfood line, Primordium can transfer over any abilities it has as well. The deck focuses on buffing Primordium to the hilt with boosts like Multi-Strike, Rage, Trample, Sweep and Damage S🧜hield. By the time a boss makes their way to the train, the monster that feasted on Primordium will be swinging fo🎐r hundreds of damage per turn whilst also being immune to damage.

  • Primordium (Superfood)
  • Furnace Tap
  • Crucible Warden/Protector
  • Rage Serum
  • Alloy of the Ancients

In-Depth Deck Rundown:

The core of your deck should be Umbra cards, with Crucible Warden or Crucible Collector being fantastic at maximising the frequent devouring of Primordium. They also have access to some amazing buff cards, such as Furnace Tap. If played early enough, your beatstick could be attacking 10+ times per turn. 🎀Be forewarned, many Umbra buffs come with Emberdrain, which, in this deck, will mean once cast players will likely have 0 mana for the rest of the combat. Either reduce spell costs to 0 or plan when you drop those cards into play. Hellhorned is an interesting addition to the build, as they have easy and cheap access to Rage and Armor cards- both of which Primordium transfers when eaten.

1 Umbra And Awoken: Morsel Madness ⭕

Close up of Monster Train Penumbra card with flavor text

Penumbra is an example of why Monster Train is up there with the genre's best. Utilising Morsels to catapult its stats into the stratosphere, this deck focuses on monsters and Artifacts that make your Morsel units more effective. A level 3 Glutton Penumbra is gaining +15/+5 per mouthful, minimum. Once Penumbra gets rolling, it isn't going to stop. Keep an eye out for Fossilised Fangs, as this causes all Gorge abilities to trigger twice.

  • Penumbra (Glutton)
  • Retch
  • Morselmaker/master
  • Glimmer
  • Restoration Detonation

In-Depth Deck Rundown:

Other cards you want to look out for are Morselmakers or Morselmasters, both of which increase your Morsel generation per turn (and therefore bolster Penumbra's incredible stat boosts). Retch is a powerful card that can return eaten units to your hand, keeping yo𝓡ur Morsel count high. Finally, Artifacts like Shadow Box can help clear out the train with a massive 150 damage to all enemies (bosses included) on the 20th Morsel played. This build synergises well with Awoken as they provide hefty healing and damage, and their tanks get even better when filled with Morsels on other floors.
