At the end of 2019, caster MonteCristo announced his departure from the , in which he played a significant part during its first two seasons. Always outspoken, Monte explained that his decision to leave was in large part due to creative differences between himself and Overwatch League commissioner Pete Vlastelica, who took over for Nate Nanzer in the midst of the league's second season. Now, some recent Tweets by Monte and others suggest that, while not anywhere close to confirmed, Monte may in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive esports scene.
First, in a reply to a Tweet by Thorin (with whom Monte co-hosted༺ a YouTube talk show about Overwatch League called OverSight) Monte to work as a desk commentator rather than continue to provide in-game commentary. In addition to having more of an ability to talk abou🔜t or even deep dive into specific thoughts and insights rather than simply describe whatever is happening on screen during a match, Monte also explains that desk work allows for the opportunity to develop an on-screen persona.
In reply to that sentiment, Thorin beckoned Monte to "Come to CS:GO." Monte, simply put, was down.
Then—and look, describing Twitter threads oftentimes sounds silly, but here we are in an era where Tweets are not just news but some of the most compelling news—CS:GO esports tournament series Blast Premier replied to Monte with two inquisitive monocled emojis. While a few posts online are well short of confirmation of a notable esports caster's futur⭕e career path, the two nonetheless have both expressed clear interest in working with one another in the ensuing back-and-forth.
Esports and gaming website Dexerto then reached out to Monte for further insight into the Twitter exchange. Monte explained that there has indeed been no official progress made toward a job with Blast Premier, but that he "wouldn't say no." CS:GO was his most-watched esports game that he wasn't required to cover for his previous job, and he even notes that he became friends with some CS:GO casters along the way. All of that said, it sounds like desk commentary for CS:GO esports maಞy very likely be ♋near the top of the list of places he is likely to land in the near future.
